G'day again guys,
Its been awhile between drinks, however, this week i was offered a s2a swb for next to nicks, it still has a month rego on it. It seems ok, no real rust in the firewall, rear x-member seems a little rough but still solid, starts first go, and drives nicely.
numbers are- 24313223d (Late 67?)
it may sound like i'm sold on it, but i don't know if should commit to another project.
Thoughts?

Cheers Sam

Actually it was a NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service vehicle sold on 24/5/1968.

The original engine number was 25299411J with NSW Rego EXN-284 and ign key 883 (?FP) plus fitted with Goodyear bar tread tyres.

Cool, thanks for that.
I'll check the engine number tomorrow when i go for another look, it also comes with a second 88" thats buggered, but chock full of spares.

I'm trying not to sell myself on the idea.......

Cheers Sam

Hey how did you find that information about the landy?

The original dispatch books from Grenville Motors still exist in the care of a forum member's father or grandfather. A scanned copy of the records are held by a small number of people ;) Diana has one copy, I have another.
If you think your Series Landy may be a NSW delivered vehicle, it can be looked up by chassis number  but Diana is much more familiar with the records than I am!

well the deal is done....
pick up will be early next week hopefully!
there seems to be bugger all rust in the chassis, and the firewall only has a couple of spots at the bottom of the a pillar. not bad at all!
I only got 1 pic today, but i'll get that up asap.

But remember CKD records are groups of 6 vehicles without engine number.

I also hold a table of NSW LR dealers in the 1950s and 1960s, plus a table of vehicle ID and owner details from a single unidentified Land Rover Dealer in central Victoria (these were uncovered in the front of a workshop manual)

well, we picked her up today,
however the boss is not real happy.....
She drives fairly well, apart from a dodgy radiator cap.

Now to see if I can convince the boss to let me keep it, otherwise, she'll be back on the market, (the landy, not the wife)

Cheers Sam
