Sounds like they're cleaning out the inlect tract, probabaly after any engine ventilation inlets hence the "decarbonise". Gets pretty ugly in there with the oil mist spraying back into the inlet.

Hi AGRO
Could Zmax be this product?
ZMAX micro-lubricant soaks into an engine's fuel and metal, expelling carbon and other harmful deposits, to increase gas mileage, performance, horsepower, and engine life and to decrease harmful emissions.

Sounds like a good way to put nearly $100 on the invoice total without any real positive effect for the vehicle.

Petrol V8 by any chance ?
Might be them cleaning out the throttle body if it is, the buildup of gunk on the butterfly shaft can cause stress on the butterfly motor. Happened to mine in the UK, took us over a year to suss out what the running fault was and by the time we worked it out the TB was stuffed and had to be replaced. Turned out to be a service item in the UAE market, the TB is to be cleaned every 12k miles.

Thank you for your replies.

My vehicle is a 2.7 TDV6.

I'll run it past the service staff and let you all know -

Searching ZMAX on Google leads to a few blogs and the "snake oil" scenario ???

If it was added to a Corporate Service, then they'd need your permission before carrying it out. A Corporate Service is done by the book.

Anyway, even if it was retail, any additives they throw at the car should be given the all clear by the customer before they're carried out.

I certainly hope you authorised this before the service was done - a 60,000km service on a TDV6 is an O service so is only change the oil and oil filter and check the battery electrolyte level if a non maintenance free battery. There is nothing else in this service - as said a good way to bump up the price.
Unless I had asked for this I would not be paying it - however decarbonising the air intake is no bad thing if in fact they did it.

At my 26,000km service at Land Rover dealership also found Zmax induction service listed at same price. Seems a bit early in life of vehicle to start decarbonising I would of thought, especially as my vehicle does exclusively country miles at speeds of 80kmh upwards. I queried this and was given story of potential fuel injector failure.

Also charged for engine flush treatment which again seems premature especially as using fully synthetic oil.

To finish off charged for fuel conditioner. As car had done 26,000 km in six months fuel is never in tank long before refueling occurs. Always use BP diesel from garage in high traffic flow area. Have been caught in distant past with bad fuel.

Zmax/engine flush/fuel conditioner appears to be part of regular service at this dealership.

I know we are talking Landies however Subaru are very cheeky in this regard.
Apart from the oil flush additive, they add a fuel additive and leave an extra bottle in the car for you to add in 5000 Kms (you pay for them all of course).
Service interval is only every 12500kms for peats sake.

You should not have to pay anything for regular services with the corporate program. If you did not ask for it refuse to pay. They won't try it again without asking then.
