Defender diff breathers

Hi all

I'm thinking of upgrading my diff breather lines.
I've seen a kit on fleebay that is a 4 line kit.
One for each diff & one for transfer case & gear box.

I've had a look & can't find breather lines coming out of the Tc & gear box.
Do the defenders have them?
Also wondering whether you need to get one specific for defenders, ie would the fittings be a direct swap?
The kit states it is for a number of different 4x4s.

The front diff, gearbox, and transfer case breather tube outlets mount on the back of the engine (on a Tdi anyway), so perhaps trace them back from there. My memory fails me as to the location on the gearbox and transfer case sorry.

As for the suitability of the kits on eBay, I don't know. The Land Rover ones are just a simple banjo type fitting so there's a fair chance they are common on other vehicles; they would just have to be the same sized fitting.

On my 300 tdi 130 single cab the front diff, engine and TC breathers come out at the rear of the engine and higher than the top of the engine. The engine and TC breathers connect to banjos accessable by removing the drivers floor. The rear diff breather comes out behind the cabin on the passenger side approx. 1200mm above the ground. I would assume this would be inside the cabin on a wagon or dual cab.
I would have thought plenty high enough ? Are you planing on a new Land Rover 'Submarine' variant. :D

Do I have to put aftermarket breathers on the axles,transfer box and gearbox on my 2.2 Puma 90? All my previous LRs have had extended breathers as standard.

Thanks for the recommendation... I work in the pneumatics industry and can provide what you need at a realistic price. The attached thread generated just one sale so I'd pretty much given up on it. The standard Defender axle breathers are OK, you don't really need to put a silencer (filter) at the end but every kit includes them. The only thing I don't supply is a fancy bracket to mount the parts. Be careful with the standard Defender banjo fitting on the axles, they are zinc passivated steel (or were on the 300Tdi) and mine corroded internally & blocked up. I now have some nice nickel plated brass fittings from work. If you want to add gearbox/transfer box breathers then you need to let me know what/where/how you are connecting the breather. Only got a snorkel not a periscope. :)
I've heard that the original breathers aren't all that reliable keeping dirt out of the vitals.
If they are fine I won't get the kit.

My PUMA has box/TC/front diff all extended to high on the firewall above the engine, rear diff is extended to floor (not high enough), All from the factory.

I used some rubber hose ($5.00 from Bursons) Sika flexed it onto the original breather line and extended it up into the cab.

Just finished the OTL, more specific Nolan's Brook, water well above wing tops, got 3 inches of water inside on the floor! But no water in either diff/box or TC.

IMHO don't waste your money on after market kits, your not getting any thing more that you have already got.
