evening all , two querys{ 86 inch}
1/ what position are people mounting wing mirrors

2/ i have a smiths heater but no taped thermostat housing. Is it feasable to have the alloy thermostat housing drilled and tapped ? Also what diam is the copper pipe? im assuming its the same as the heater outlets.

On the passenger side of the thermostat housing are two bosses, which can both be tapped to 1/2"BSP. One of them can be fitted with a 1/2" water tap - the sort which has the wheel on top and is commonly found in hardware stores. See Dennis's post below for where the return pipe goes.
Most installations I have seen use 1/2 copper water pipe, with presumably hose connectors in the pipe somewhere, to allow for engine movement.
You may find it awkward to tap the holes when the thermostat is on the engine; in any case make sure that the housing is in good condition without too much corrosion,

1 of the bosses (flat spots) is for the heater the other is for a temp. gauge. The heater return goes into a socket welded to the metal pipe feeding the water pump from the lower radiator hose. This means there is flow through the heater from the action of the water pump. There is a very good diagram in the manual if you do not have a copy let me know and I will post a copy.
