Is castrol egde prof 5/30 alright for 2010 ford motor def eng. thanks for any advice

Yes fine. The Shell Helix 5W40  is the factory favourite IIRC , but any full synthetic  C* rated (diesel turbo engine) high quality 5W30/40 oil will be fine. You can use Penrite HPR5, also.
AFAIK even the new Def with the 2.2 has no DPF, so a low SAPS oil isn't even required.
Just looking at their site, Longlife III should be fine :)

JC,Shell is the oil dealers use?,when my Tdi was new it was Mobil and I changed to Penrite once the warranty ran out,I'd like to do the same with the TDCi,Penrite is my personal favourite oil.  Pat

AFAIK this is/ was correct, a Shell helix ultra 5w40 from memory. Personally, ANY 5w40 that I mentioned above would be suitable IMO.
I use Penrite too, a very good oil.
