Front or rear? the DBA site shows 70mm height for the front and 60 mm for the rear (59mm for the 298mm dia disc or 61mm for the 290mm dia disc).

A '96 model should be, according to DBA, 290mm dia, 61mm high for the rear. Front should be 300mm dia, 71mm high.

Did you get rears and not fronts?

Did you buy front or rear? Sounds like rears.

Check the OD of the disc (accurately).

I ordered Rears 110 -130 defender. The OD is 297 mm same as the old the bolt PCD is the same just the width different

what is the part number you were sent? they could've sent you rear discs for a disco, or rear discs for an ABS defender.

1994 through to 1998/9 use the front discs for d1 on the rear. td5 (abs/non abs) models 99 on to current used a different disc, it has similar height dimensions to disco rear, but is thicker.

According to the DBA catalogue, 60mm (approx) is correct for a Defender rear.

According to the DBA catalogue, that's the correct disc for a Defender rear.

should be dba087, or dba549 for later abs etc. Both solid.

fronts are DBA086, vented,1994 to 2012

jc

Edit, Ron the DBA catalogue is totally all over the show, it is showing rear range rover classic discs for the front of a puma 130 :P I'd pay little attention to it...

I suggest we somehow warn AULRO users how inaccurate that DBA catalogue is....

I found heaps more errors going through the landie section:o

The real truth is;

Disco 1 and early RRC front solid disc DBA 087, rear DBA 088 (This includes ABS models)
Later RRC with vented discs, DBA 086 front, DBA 088 rear (This includes ABS models)
Defender with vented front discs, up till present Puma DBA 086, rear DBA549. (This includes ABS models)
County front solid discs, DBA087

They look like DBA549, to suit ABS and non ABS Defender td5 models 1999 to present Puma.
If you ordered to suit 1996 Defender then it is their mistake.

It's STILL WRONG!!! NO defenders except early imported 90's have the 088 rears

ALL dfenders except the td5 onward have 087 rears.

Im sure there was a thread years ago about DBA's and how the part numbers were wrong that were listed

Pretty confusing going by this chart I should have 088 60mm but seem to have
087 70mm

087 are correct for the 96 Def. If that is what they sent you then they incorrectly boxed as they are DBA549 in that photo you posted up. (That is if they are 13mm thick, if they are 11.7mm thick then they are 088)

I missed that
Did you or Ron slip in the thumbnail ?

Been running 087S and 086S for a very long time now, although they are very close to minimum thickness, they've lasted well. (225,000km ?)

Same here Rick, even with all my stop start driving, 1 pad abrasion from mud incident, and no trailer brakes hooked up on the camper :wasntme: they have seen at least 150K. No slots left but still not min thickness. I'll be replacing shortly though with Slotted and drilled Brembo copies from UK. Also going back to genuine pads. Sure they dust up a bit but very happy with their all round performance, and I can get them cheap :)

RDA have a good rep, but they don't make discs, only source and wholesale them.
Having said that my old DBA's are Brembo cores finished by DBA but I have no idea what/where new DBA Land Rover castings are made.

I like DBA as years ago when I was racing we found their cores and machining better quality/more consistent than AP Racing, at least with the stuff I was using :o

Mine still have the slots (just) and with my new rims I picked up from Serg on Monday I'll be able to watch them disappear.....

BTW, as I mentioned in my reply to Jason, my 086/7's are Brembo cores.

[edit] Hmm, OE pads eh ? Been using Ferodo 4wd for near on ten years, (cheap and cheerful from Motospecs/Repco) Might be time for a change.
The Bendix 4WD's I've used on the Patrol seem more aggressive to the discs, but that could be the iron they use too. The Ferodo's have been very kind to the discs on the Landy.

They are to suit Td5 Defender then, DBA549 in Bendix/ DBA brand, but in LR the part number is SDB000330, or aftermarket LRO18026.

Rda definitely make there own rotors but just like everyone else there out of china just like dba the only rotors dba were makeing in Australia was commodore and falcon rotors this may have changed tho we haven't used dba in years and only deal with rda and we are closed so I can't access the catalog to check they're listing

JC and 460cixy, any idea what they actually are ? eg. Ferodo (UK) ?

A bloke I know well collared me today, he has a big brake squeal problem with his 110 tray back and I suggested genuine ones and will ring Karcraft on Wednesday.

He's tried three different sets in the last month, but I suspect the anti-squeal shims might be missing too.
