Hi all,
I recently got my first disco and am very happy with it so far- especially after stepping out of a Forester.
It's a series 2 SE TD5 7 seater with 150K on the clock. We have had it out on Stockton beach and on a couple of old logging trails in the Gloucester tops. We will not be tackling anything really tough and want to set up so that I am confident I can get out of anything I get into.
I joined the forum a few months back and have been checking out different threads for ideas.
I have so far replaced all filters/fluids, installed the EGR bypass, fixed the oil leak from the injector harness, replaced the turbo/intercooler hoses, fitted a new bull bar and put new 265/60 rubber on it. The rubber still clears the guards but occasionally just touches a guard liner on full lock and the speedo now reads 6% under.
I'm now tossing up if I should be fitting a 50mm lift. I really like the rear air suspension so would not be converting to springs as 90% of the time we are on hardtop. I have also been given a set of king HD standard front springs so considering the 50mm strut lift and sticking with standard height springs. The shocks look like they are the originals but are still providing a nice ride.
I am also wondering about recovery points. I gather I need to fit a set of something decent up front and hoping I can stick with the tow point at the rear as she looks pretty solid.
Any advice/guidance on a solid basic setup and if I have missed anything important would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Scotty
