Certainly happy with these figures!

And based on testing (modified ccf) the readings are mighty close to what the pump says!

Am I reading that right? Does the third image show that you are doing about 2000rpm at 121km/h?

The other two seem to show between 10 and 11 litres/100km at 122km/h. That wasn't downhill was it? :p

That is impressive! Mine averages that fuels consumption....... never.

Nice to see you've had a cold change come through also!

You are correct... A little over 2100rpm IIRC...

And that was on an ever so slight uphill section of road from Pt Augusta to Whyalla...

Speed, Fuel use and averages were over a total distance of 350km returning from Adelaide

Yeah, been very cool here (these things are relative)... Only getting to 40-42c each day.

You have no idea how sad it sounds walking outside when its 36c and finding yourself saying "nice and cool at the moment" to a work mate..

I maintain it was on a private track on a local homestead :coplight:

I maintain it was on a private track on a local homestead :coplight:I thought you did a trip to the Northern Territory where the speed limit is 130!

Even if it was on the Hume Highway NSW, it would only be a fine or less than 10KPH over the speed limit and IIRC only one demerit point on your licence.

No over read worth mentioning on this vehicle :)

CCF changes and Larger diameter tyres got it in check..

There is a station I'm friends with the owner. Has a great long dirt road.

May go and do some faster runs and check economy at higher speeds... :D

Does your indicated economy line up with 'pump' figures? Mine does not and nobody I directly know who owns a D4 has accurate indicated economy either.

They seem to read about 10% on the optimistic side. ie indicate ~ 1l/100km better than what you really get.

It's amazing how nice it makes you feel reading the figure. I prefer not to do the actual calculations. :D It's the same with the speedo...I was doing 220kph in a Touareg on the Autobahn but its listed top speed is 205 or something like it.

Well I was crapping myself :) Thing is, the speedo is showing more and the fuel economy is showing less, all designed to give you a warm fuzzy feeling about the car.

D4 rolled through 30,000km on the work run this week.

These have been a lot of tracks and offroad and apart from a niggle with a dash rattle (just can't get time to take to MLR at the moment) it's been otherwise flawless.

Excuse the blurring - was a bit focused... ;)

The exact moment it hit 30,000km
57320

And the economy for such... Its a bit blurry, sorry, was kinda focused elsewhere... It says 13.4l/100km
57321

No complaints there!

Tombie,is that dash rattle like a sort of buzz that changes as the road surface changes?
If it is,mine has it as well, haven't had a chance to get it to the dealer yet,but it is an annoying PITA.

As for the fuel economy, that is way better than mine.................:(

And it needs a CCF change as it is way out of wack,at least 10% optimistic.

Mine is a "tap" kind of knock...

That fuel economy is actually so damn close - on fill ups I'm getting within 1/2 litre.

I thought 13.4l/100km was pretty good pushing a 2700kg brick at that pace :)

Thats about what my TD5 (admittedly modified a lot) gets at 110km/h...

What I did love, was the lowering and the tightness, poise and control the vehicle feeds back at that pace... Doesn't feel like you are doing anything near that figure.

Dunno what mine gets at those speeds as i haven't been on a private road safe enough to try yet;)

But pussyfooting on a long run lightly loaded i am struggling to get actual below 10.7L/100.
My D2a,with a BD chip would have got 9's easily, under the same driving conditions.

Not taking anything away from the D4,it is still a fantastic drive.......

SWMBO had it pointed up a muddy hill the other day and it just sat there going no where with all four wheels spinning.:D:D
Should have taken a vid of it but the camera was at home.:(
