Perhaps wishing he had--

Some common sense
Appropriate tyres
Better driving / self recovery skills
A winch
A highlift Jack or airbag jack
A shovel
Some Maxitrax
Maybe a difflock
A companion
Some food & water

Then maybe a Land Rover..;)

Poor bugger. Surprising the road hadn't been closed already.

I'd say he got the landrover experience, in that we have to wait for tow trucks :p :lol2:
Seriously though, he claims he's well set up.
Be that as it may, not much good if you don't know how to use it ;)

Looks like he was a lot further off the road by the tyre marks now filled with water, makes one wonder what speed he was travelling in those conditions,it could have been a lot worse.

I think it just shows that no matter how well prepared one is things can go wrong, you can have all the gear, experience etc but then you only need to leave one thing to chance and BOOM your stuck...................... Aww who am I kidding, he was not in a Landie, so there ya go "One thing left to chance" and BOOM he was stuck :p

He said he was set up so that stuff like that couldn't happen, but looking at where he was, with a few basic bits of recovery gear and 22 hours to burn I reckon in any decent 4wd you could get yourself out.

With all that scrub around, even a couple of hours with a shovel and a bunch of sticks and branches would give a reasonable chance of getting going again. Add some max traxx and/or a winch and an extension strap and it should have been a piece of cake.

Of course it always good to know when to stop and try something else before you sit yourself down on the chassis rails as well.

My thoughts exactly.

Touch wood I've never had to wait for a tow truck with the Disco. With Mini, VW, Prado and Peugeot yes, but not the Landie ;)

You mean "Touch fake wood trim put in by stealers?" :D

Could happen to any one , doesn't matter what you drive. It's about time we grew up and recognised that. To much bull**** in the 4WD world, if you ask me. Oh, that's right, no one did, Bob :D HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY

To be honest Bob, I couldn't give a stuff either. People can drive what they like, but it's all about attitude. Attitude to others, attitude towards the environment, thinking outside the "I'm number one"......

.....but sometimes it's fun to stir the pot too!
