Plastic radiator plug

Just received a replacement coolant level sensor that replaces the brass plug. Should I be concerned that it's made out of plastic?

The standard ones were plastic and had a bad name for cracking and and blowing out and failing.
The brass items fitted were purchased from a hardware shop to stop that problem.( they are just a gas thread)
Depends on the quaility of the plastic plug provided with the kit.

They need to made out of a non conductive material, hence the plastic. If it is an engine saver (dave on this forum) the plastic quality is good. Mine has been in for 140,000 kms now without issues. You can always carry the brass one in your parts kit, if you are skeptical. If the plastic one fails and the alarm goes off, screw the brass one back in.:)

Brass interacts with the long life OAT (red) coolant and is a major cause of the red sludge forming which leads to blockages. If you use OAT coolant and the plastic plug is good quality, stick with the plastic...;)
