Hi all. I have just fitted the rack to the D4 and thought I'd share the pic of it and what I did. My Disco came with the factory long racks and Rhino recommend a leg that is quite high, too high for my liking so I bought the legs that suit the Rhino track because they are much lower then I bought the track nut that fits the disco's factory track, works a treat.

Looks good Hoppy 11. Are the rear mounts onto factory cross bars or Rhino bars? If Rhino did you use factory nuts into the tracks as for the front? Regards David

Hi there Blue C, there are no separate cross bars, the legs mount to the racks own cross bars, the rack comes with two fixed cross bars and you need to bolt/ rivit 3 extra cross bars to the rack to suit your vehicle. I used the rhino legs that suit the Rhino roof rails, I had to order the Rhino roof rail nuts to suit the Landrover roof rail

And another, the front legs use a 10mm spacer as the roof rails are not level

Is that a true black option pack, or have you completed yourself? I'm looking at doing the kit myself as it wasn't available on base model ( the max I could stretch my budget)

Yep, it is a true Black option SE, with upgraded sound system, rear air (we often carry extra passenger in the 3rd row), privacy glass etc. it was the first one in WA. Had a 2.7 D3 HSE before this, love the new 8 speed and 3lt

It looks hot.... Wish I was able to stretch that far... Still at least I got the 8speed, now just have to wait till June to drive it

Hay Hoppy,
Great stuff, looks good!. Do you have the part numbers for the legs and the bolt to fit the LR tracks? I have the 'too high' issue with my Pioneer Platform rack. The legs that Rhino sold me with the rack is as you say too high.
I have the LR long rails same as you.
Thanks

I will get the part number for you. They are they legs they recommend for the pioneer platform for the discovery when you have no roof rails and you use the Rhino rails

Here is a pic of the box. You will need to order 6 extra discovery roof rail nuts from Rhino, as these legs have 2 bolts instead of one like your legs. You may need to move the centre rail on your rack forward as one of the bolts may line up with a gap in the rail where you insert the nut

I have just taken delivery of Rhino Rack kit to go with the OEM long roof rails that I fitted to my D4.. I have 2 aero rails and also a long platform rack. The kit came with legs with one screw not the 2 shown in the photo. Also came with 10 mm spacer for front of rail. I will use the aero rails mostly but got the platform rack to mount Hannibal Rooftent and carry other stuff on big trips. Hope it's not a prob to have the legs with only one screw.
Bit confusing when reading the instructions as it mentioned riveting the 3 cross rails that came with the platform to the platform. Apparently Rhino haven't updated the instructions. The cross rails now have captive nuts and are now bolted to the platform.
Have fitted the aero bars but am yet to try the platform.

You still need to rivet the cross rails through the centre of the rack to stop any vibration you only bolt it on the ends

Hoppy, mine came with cross bars with captive nuts and bolts that go through plates on the top of the rack. Will post pics when I get chance.
Must be a new thing.

Hey Hoppy.
I spoke with a roof rack company in Adelaide today about this set up. Was looking at doing the same. I haven't got any tracks at present but was looking at the LR ones. They said that as the LR tracks and the Rhino tracks are angled slightly different, the Rhino foot doesn't get a great deal of surface area to grip onto. They seem to think that it all looks ok but the fitment is slightly compromised. Looks like I'll just get a complete rhino set up with both the tracks and the aero bars. What do you think about their comments?
Cheers

Seems fine to me, I didn't use the supplied track nuts as they would barely grip the LR rail. I ordered Rhino's LR rail nut which is a tight fit. Installed close up pic attached

Hi Hoppy11,
I have the Rhino long platform rack on LR long rails. The 6 x Legs and curved adaptor force the rack to be quite high above the rails and roof line. They also only have 1x securing bolt per leg.
At traffic lights I've been eyeing the lower rhino legs and their reduced height.
I like the lower legs(more stable) and the prospect of 2x securing bolts per leg.
My question is which Rhino leg part number and LR rail nut number did you use.
Is there 2 x LR rail nuts per leg?
If you don't mind would you be able to take a picture side on close up and another showing the full length.

There is a pic of the part number for the legs at the top of this page and i dont have the Rhino LR track nut on me although its in the rhino parts book at any shop that sells Rhino gear and yes there is 2 bolts and nuts per leg, I also ditched the supplied Rhino Allen bolts and bought new stainless bolts that were 5 mm longer as the LR track is deeper than Rhino's so the supplied bolts were not long enough to grip the nut

Hi Hoppy,
This looks like a nice rack  and a neat solution to reduce height. Can you tell me what the overall height of the rack is above the roof rails?
Cheers,
Jon

I have just done 15,00Km Tassie across the Barkly / Gibb to Cape Leveque and Tanami.
By the Kimberly I realised the original rear roof rail connector screw had sheared off and the rail still attached to the roof rack foot was bouncing on the roof itself .
The only reason I can think of is that the roof has a slight curve , dipping at the rear and I have an aluminium plate (Oz tent RV$) tent box firmly attached by 6 bolts. The rack can probably flex enough to cope but not with the rigid tent box not allowing flex.
Eventually it happened on teh other side .I just strapped both sides to teh rear tow ring.
Have not sorted out how to fix yet. Anyone else had this issue

In your photo I can see a rim up on your roof rack, why a rim only?
