Hi all,
I'm in the market for a scanner in order to get my negatives on the hard disc. I don't need a professional device, but I don't want to step back on quality. I was recommended a PlusTek (there are two different choices, called 8100 and 8200i SE, respectively), but these are not that easily available locally. I may consider ordering one online.
Any other suggestions?
Ta, mates!

I've had a plustek 7200 for a number of years, and it's been a good unit (although I suspect now superseded)

Scan from 1985 slide (IIRC)

Scan of 1977 negative.
The biggest influence will be the condition of the slide/negative with regard to scratches or mould etc.
You can however get some great results with a little patience and work.

What's the budget?
Myself and one of my neighbours are heavily into film photography and when he got a scanner there was much researching before an Epson V700 was purchased.
Retailed for around $700 but there's probably a newer model now, you might even get a secondhand one cheap.
Flatbed but bloody good and has the holders for negatives and slides and medium format and large format sheet film and comes bundled with Photoshop Elements....
I was going to buy one myself but a local pro lab shut down and I scored their huge Kodak Professional PCD 4050 which is ten years old but was a $15k machine new....
