I dont' have one (defender) but my understanding was that there was only a 4x4/diff locked light. not a low range light.

i assume it would have centre diff light like previous 110's as a reminder......shouldn't need a light for low range....

Yep I have that one, I wondered if it was the mountain one that came on?

Hi Tikka,
An 08 Puma should only have the orange "Centre Diff Locked" light illuminate when the diff is locked in both high and low range.
There is no separate light for high and low range (pretty difficult to not notice those:D).
We've had a long discussion about the "mountain" one, but as far as we can tell the Australian version of the Puma has no reason or ability to have the mountain light illuminated.
The only other light you'll see off road is the orange "TC" inside a break disc symbol which will indicate when you're traction control is active (can't select that on or off) which happens automatically.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Lou

Ahh - its says in the manual it comes on but actually that is only on Disco's... for some reason it doesn't do it on Defenders.

Thanks Lou - I don't have TC... oh well, I do like the little lamps that aren't alerts for major faults ;)

Tikka,
You said before its a UK import to NZ...?
I'm 99.999% sure it does have TC, you just need to find something challenging enough for that 90 to make it activate...!:D
There is no switch, it functions automatically with the Defender's ABS.

Yes that's right - off on Mon to get completely wax oiled or such.
No doesn't have TC and no ABS. It has the square rear wheel 'arches' and that let's me fit 4 side seats. Wanted a 'new' truck but 5 doesn't go into 4 so this has worked out well.

Well that's stumped me completely... I wasn't aware that Puma's had an option not to have ABS.
Could you post what waxoil type deal they're doing to the car when you find out please? If it's UK style waxoil it would not be of any use this side of the pond (temperature wise), but looking at my surface rust starting I would very much like to find an "apply and forget" product.

Lou

Yep I'll let you know as being done by Canterbury Land Rover Spares with years of experience - apparently the apply bit takes 2-3 hours labour while the forget part is temporary!

Just a c.diff light on ours.
The 1.5klms top speed in 1st in the dead give away for me.
I do have trouble getting it back into HR sometimes, but I thinks its more operator than equipment ;)

I have that too... Yes I was addressing issues following purchase of the Truck from a dealer and needed to know if that was one...I guess when I'm in low range correctly most of the time!

No doesn't have TC and no ABS.
That seems really odd. Just curious - how did you determine that it doesn't have TC & ABS?

I have the factory build sheet. I also stood on the brakes on our gravel road.
It also has the rectangle rear wheel arches, which allows 4 inward facing seats.

I think it would be almost impossible to not know if you were in 4WD.. :)
And no, like the others, I do not have a light in my puma for 4WD.. just centre dif lock..
