Hi all, I am in the planning stages of a "backpacking" trip to Australia later this year.
My current car is a 1960 sII shorty. It was the 2.0 diesel originally, but the head was cracked, so now has a 2.25 diesel.

The plan is to find a good condition, lwb series rover, and outfit it for traveling and exploring.
Ideally I would like to find a sI or sII, that is in regular use and not needing any major work. I have been watching Gumtree and carsales,
but as I am in the states I am unable to collect or inspect a vehicle when I find one. If there is anyone who has any ideas on this I would love to hear them.
Also, as I am planning, any locations or other ideas would be great to hear.

I am sure you will get lots of ideas and help. As far as locations go, South East Queensland has THE best BBQs', so put us on your list :D.

Hey thanks, I'm hoping to do some rover shows and meets.

Here is a pic of the 88 on a trip I did to Montana.

Well its official, my Visa was granted the other day. Now I am really on the lookout for a good LWB series. I am planning on arriving in October in Melbourne. As I travel north, I would like to attend a club event or two, if Yanks are allowed around that is :p. Will be checking here and updating as things progress.
