hi all....
Is there a correct coolant flow through the heater core or is it irrelevant?
Its shown in the workshop manual ,however is there any reason to swap the inlets around due to neatnes and ease?

It's all to do with the way you want to warm the air up, the water going one way through the heater core polarises the air so when the warm polarised air leaves your heater the warm air heats your left leg and leaves the right leg cold.

If you change the direction of the water the air gets polarised the opposite way and both legs remain cold.

That reminds me, better check why the fan doesn't seem to work
Hooking the heater up is as easy As turning the tap on

I found a very nice Smiths heater in Tassie a few weeks back but could not locate the owner. My now well trained and poor suffering wife called out while driving along in a rented XR6 " oh look theres a series 1 over there ". I climbed over the barbed wire fence nearly loosing some of the family jewels in the process. From memory I think it was an 86 but what caught bmy eye was the smiths heater in excellent condition. All it needed was a coat of paint. If I can get back down to the apple isle soon I will try and chase up the owner. No im not giving the location away I would like this one myself.
