To save me taking my spare off to weigh, can anyone tell me the approximate weight of a 16" alloy rim plus tyre? I'm trying to get a set of 5 transported from Adelaide to Fremantle. I'm assuming compressed air won't make much difference if the tyres haven't gone flat in the interim!!!
Cheers Gavin

Range Rover classic ones with 205x16 tyres weigh 23.5 Kg so probably about 25Kg. so freight will probably go on dimensions.

I've not weighed mine, but I've changed a couple recently. I think a reasonable weight would be around 20-25kg per wheel if they are standard tyres.
Factoring in the weight of a pallet, assuming they'll be strapped to one, 200kg for the lot would be in the ballpark I reckon.
Try GKR Transport or WA Freightlines for the transport side of things.

Try e-go too I think ego.com.au is the address. They're a division of HUnter Express.

I've got 5 18" tyres coming from tirerack at the moment and the shipping bill lists it as 84kg. That's rubber only.

20-25 kg sounded light to me and I had 43 kg in my head - so, I checked and weighed a wheel (265/75 tyres on 8" alloy rim)
Try 47 kgs.

Are you sure your scales are correct?
According to my admitted bathroom scales a 750x16 on a Toyota split rim only weighs 45KG.
And I weighed a 245x75x16LT BFG AT on a RRC alloy at 23.5Kg.And RRC alloys are HEAVY .
I also measured the alloy at 10Kg vs a steel Disco 1 wheel at 13Kg.

Many thanks Franz - I'm not surprised - heavy to lift!! In light of other comments I'll measure my spare rim which is an 8" six spoke - effectively a range rover lend I understand.

I also used bathroom scales and I'm reasonably sure they're correct. As I said, I had 43kg in the back of my head from when I weighed them on decent scales. 265/75 MT's will weigh a fair bit more than 245 AT's.

Tirerack site lists a 265 75 16 LT BFG ATKO as 24Kg , so given maybe 10-15Kg for a wheel , the weight lies somewhere between our two extremes methinks.
Any way I know they are bloody heavy to lift onto the rear carrier on my D2.

Well my alloy wheel is 12K, so add 24K to that for the tyre (thanks Philip A)= 36k in total.
Now to get some transport quotes.
