Today I was in Jaycar and bought a usb endoscope for $24.95.
USB plugs into your laptop, and you use your laptop as screen, so you get full screen, you can do a snap shot or a avi video, 4 led and adjustable brightness, also water proof. 2 meter length.
A cheap bit of kit that is small enough to go into spark plug holes.
Here's a test a scary pic of what's in an ear.
For the price resolution isn't too bad.

That's gross!:D. Did the same thing with the one I bought from Aldi the other day.:D

Mine has a small LCD screen and I have used it almost every day since I got it. Small enough to get into a cylinder through the spark plug too. Very handy.:)

I had one of those small screen ones from Hare and Forbes, about $160 I think I paid used it a couple of times and it was kapputt, also the head was too big for spark plug holes and the metal hose hard to bend. I love the fact that this one works on lap top so you get a big picture. Although LED Lap top screens aren't the best in bright sunlight.

Would they be small enough to go through the wading plug hole in a 300TDI timing cover to inspect the belt?
Cheers

That will be good for those in the "other thread" that do not trust doctors.
This can be a handy tool for DIY Colonoscopy :p

Mine was $89 and seems to work fine. Has a 1 year warranty and Aldi have no problems honouring their warranties. The head is less than 10mm. You are right about the hose being hard to bend though, but for price I'm happy to put up with it.

The USB one would be handy at times and to get a bigger picture.

They say 10mm camera,I just micromed it @9.92mm and the wading plug @13.7mm thread out to thread outer so it would be a tight one but doable I reckon

I must own up to of having a few of them, and I always wondered if they used the same instrument, no I don't think I want to know.
And how about that camera pill you swallow , it's ok I suppose if you were the 1st to have used it, but they recycle them.

The danger will be if the nurse is new in the proceeding and insert the camera in the wrong end and come out at the top
This is too much, it is the glass of red fault, I am going to bed.................

Actually a friend of mine had a client that had a routine colonoscopy and died a few days later, the specialist had punctured the bowel.
So it's not for amatuers, if you want to do it then there are risks. It's definately not a DYI job :D

I had been eyeing off the Aldi endoscope for $90 dollars.
After reading this thread I decided I would buy one.
The Aldi had one going and I could play with it in the shop.
It works OK , but it not very flexible.
I checked out the Jaycar one for $25 dollars which plugs into a USB port of a computer.
I purchased it and I am very pleased for the money.
Using the computer screen gives better and larger picture.
The scope is a lot more flexible that the Aldi one and using the USB as the power supply means no flat battery problems etc when not used often, all at quarter the price.
Save video or pics straight into the computer without saving on to a card.
has 4 adjustable LEDs.
There is always a lap top at home or work.....brillant.

Better go and clean the wax out of my ears and clean my teeth now........:p

Yep I'm pleased with the Jcar one, the only thing is using a laptop outside I find with the lcd screens the bright daylight makes it hard to see clearly, but you can get that an LCD screen.
