Hi,

Next to the power steering reservoir is a black ball a vacuum pipe goes from it to the Plenum and wire go to the ecu I presume, what does it actually do?, I was looking at the vacuum pipe from it and have found that someone before me has put a cable tie on it rather tightly in what looks liks an attempt to block it, any idea why this would be? And what effect it would have

Thanks

Heater vent controls?

Edit: Or heater core value? Something heater or air con related. :D

I don't recall seeing one in my V8's do you have a photo? Some one may have retrofitted one for an aftermarket cruise at some stage or to fix a vaccum problem elsewhere.

Looks like the heater control vacumn ball which is fitted to vr vs commodores. Does it have GM or the holden logo on it?

do you have maxi-drive difflock?, if so that would be the vacuum tank.

I have one of those it is for my cruise control.

But it only works intermittently and I really should fix it.

Cheers, Adam

It's an egg. Break it open and a perfectly formed minature LR will roll out.

It's gotta be this.... or the heater control. ;)

They are also fitted to rangie classics: its not the maxi drive vacuum tank as they were metal and a cylinder, not plastic and a ball and these balls are factory fit where as maxidrives weren't; its not cruise control as my rangie has the ball but no cruise; its not the ABS accumulator (as per the ebay link) as they are metal and only fitted to cars that have ABS; it could be the heater control;)

Im pretty sure your right as lrparts.ru lists it as for heating and cooling system part no MUC1679 so problem solved there but still wosndering why someone would want to block vacuum to it..
