Hi Guys,
Have 4" springs but need appropriate shocks however the most ive seen are 2 inch lifted shocks.
I remember seeing a disco in a mag using i think patrol shocks but not sure .. Any advice would be fantastic.
Thanks guys

Are you just replacing the stock springs with the +4in? And are you doing it yourself? If so my understanding is you will need to change your front suspension bushes, probably a 3 degree castor correction, or it will be a pig to handle, and should oversteer quite severely. If you have a diesel with a rubber donut on your rear propshaft will need to have a rangie or V8 uni-joint conversion or it will destroy itself. You will need to buy a set of extended braided brake lines. (Linn Rover here in WA sell them for just over $100 for +150mm from memory, the quality ones with the free nuts on the end.) And possibly one or two other things I have no idea about! ;) You can buy lowered shock mounts to cater for higher springs, used with +2in shocks. I have just over +2in spring lift and I have noticeable oversteer and my donut is already half chewed out. I'll change the brake lines one of these days to be safe as well. Just a few thoughts.

Cheers guys !
Lane, i am doing it myself and have good mechanical experience i just not sure where to go for the shocks. Brake lines and accessories sorted, just shockers far to short :(
Pommy, would you have a link to those shocks mate ?

4" springs is overkill, 2" spring and 2" body is a better combo.
You will most likely need cranked and extended radius and trailing arms, castor correction, longer shocks (you already know), lengthened brake lines, rear uni conversion, double cardan/uni in the front.
Slotted swivels to counter act the castor correction etc.............

No worries mate, Glad you know what you are doing.:D And I'm sure a proper +4in spring lift installation is better than a combo as described, Certainly far better in case of an accident anyway. Having said that I do have a +2in body lift in the shed!:p

Hi mate,
I have a 2" body lift and 2" springs at the moment however when i hit a sizable bump the 35" tyres at times hit the guards which im trying to avoid. I could go without the 4" springs at a push however i have them now and the extra 2" would definitely not go astray. I think your right about the radius bars as there is a 5" lift kit from the UK i found and it has the radius arms and a longer prop shaft.

Do you have flares?

Do you have flares?
extended bumpstops / bumpstop droppers also a consideration?
if your dead set on the 4" lift, i think you can do a gq / 80 series combo with pin/eye adaptors and come out ok, or just go the +5's. as mentioned, you will need more then just big springs and shocks.
just watch out too, 4" susp and 2" b/l is gonna be fairly top heavy in a disco. not trying to talk you out of it, just things to consider.

Do you have flares?
Not yet.. The front guards have been cut smoothly so cant really tell however with flares could definitely go more. Rear are as far as comfortable however again, with flares could go more.
Do you think this would solve the clearance issue ?

This is a pic of the Disco as it sits. The guards have been extended however thinking that little extra lift wouldnt kill it..?

They will catch on the first decent articulation , go the flares.

Well there is your problem, you should be running flares, that way a lot more of the guard is cut out. Fitting the 4" springs is going to give you alot more headaches. Your choice though:)
