Mine has been great. Both kids made some really nice original cards, paper weights, and artwork from school and kindy. The wife has passed out from night shift so I have the kids to myself, and the smiles from paying pirates on the new dingy purchase has gone a long way to paining for itself already.
It's pretty cool being a dad

I am lying in bed waiting for a cup of tea. I think my 2 are trying to sort that out. Daughter was out all night and only came through the door a couple of hours ago, so not a bad effort from them IMO.
(Oh, they are 19 and 16 by the way - no home made cards any more, but I'll get a cuppa and breaky):)

I had to make my own cuppa, would have died of thirst otherwise. My two are 17 and 14, 17yo daughter hasn't yet returned from boyfriend's house (had promised to be back by 8.30 so that we can go out for a picnic lunch somewhere), 14yo son I'm unlikely to see for a couple more hours yet.
And SWMBO still snoring.

Do they both have mobiles near them? I'd keep texting and ringing them until they got their bums into gear..:)
Hope you get your cuppa soon.

Fathers day, very mixed this year.
Just waiting for my youngest daughter to arrive, she's picking up some extra bacon and then the kids will be cooking B&E on the bbq for breakfast. Then it will be time for a look at Kellys new car, picked up Friday, but got overwhelmed by other events in the family. Now I'll have a bit of time to look at it.

SWMBO has just stopped snoring and out of bed. Might see some offspring being rounded up in a minute or two. :D

Well, just finished breaky in bed.:). Bacon, eggs, beans, hash browns, tomatoe and cheese kransky.
Very yummy. Just got a coffee to finish things off.
But, just found out miss wants a lift back to Ballarat this morning as she is working this arvo..... Had to be too good to be true...
How do you get your kid to get her licence, when she is not at all interested in driving or cars? I have failed as a Father in this regard...:D

Made my own pot of tea, walked to work (9k's) made my own breakfast and settled down to 10 hours at work. In the FCC at the present.
Son rang an hour ago and will speak to daughter later, but they have a few other issues going on in their lives at the moment too as their Uncle Bushie will attest :(

or only as long as the l-plates are up and she is driving
of course with no children, my advice is useless! haha

Just another Sunday here. Took the dog to the local lake for a swim. Been doing some yard clearing. Will break out the chain saw shortly. I don`t think the two who are still at home even realise it is fathers day.

I like the thought, and I have tried that. If she hadn't of been working this arvo, she would have been on public transport, but on a Sunday it sucks worse than usual and a trip from Sunbury to Mt Helen by bus, then train, then another train, the another bus would have taken her close to 6 hours today, and she would have missed her shift...

I don't "go" for father's Day...I reckon it's a big "Commercialisation" thing by the big stores to get you to spend money......BUT, it has made me happy to see the responses in this thread where there is none of that....just family stuff...getting Dad Breakfast in bed etc.....top stuff.
So, whilst I don't go for it, Daughter (38) does....INSISTED we meet for coffee with her little boy (8 weeks) & hubby ...which we did....she made me very proud to be a Dad,...even if I am an old one.
Cheers, Pickles.

Probably the most often broken promise in the history of the world :D
Although I get around it by simply saying "I won't be late" and I never am, I'm super early the next day....
Hope everyone is having a nice fathers day, Dad and I just got back from another bike run out to Oberon. Good fun

Got up, then got out of bed:), wifey took me out for brunch. Then after that she took the dogs for a walk to her mums, I laid on the couch and watched Planet Terror, then went to pick up wifey, kids (stayed at nan and pops the night)and dogs, did all the present things, and somewhere in between all that booked a trip to tassie for the Christmas break :) been a good day, except for me sporting a killer sinus infection :(

Sorry to hear that Rangieman and Rick1970 - sometimes life sucks; hope they come around soon. Sometimes all it takes is for them to have kids of their own and they realise how cruel they've been to their parents. Keep trying to contact them and wishing them happy birthday, Christmas, etc and I reckon they'll come back one day; I hope so guys.
My kids are all grown up (late to early 20's); I got to go for a surf (1st indulgence for months after working like a dog at home), then had a late lunch/ early tea with my daughters, wife and mum after the son went to work. Now I get to watch the MotoGP :D
ps agreed Pickles - big commericalisation; kids asked what I wanted; nothing!!!

Had fathers day on Friday night as I was away all weekend at work.
The 6yo was very proud as he bought me a spirit level with a screwdriver attachment in a silver case that he bought from the school stall. He said that it was the thing there that I would have loved the most.

No big deal for me. Eldest son's work(Pilot) meant he was away. Youngest son(20) was home from uni. Father in(out)law lives at Tocumwal NSW so we went for a drive and had lunch with them.
My dad fell off the perch in 04 so no reason to go to Melb where my Mum lives.
I do agree with an earlier post about the commercialism of these things. Come Mothers day my mum just likes to have the family around. She does enjoy a nice card, no presents.
All in all I enjoyed the day.

Pretty good day.
It must be the day for it. I was presented with Slow roasted pork belly that melted in the mouth, with chunks of perfect crackling.....mmmmmm. Served with my old granny's tattie'n'onion bake and green beans.
I do 90% of the cooking at home, so to have it cooked for me without having to lift a finger is a real treat.

To all you blokes who are not able to catch up with your kids due to separation/divorce, my heart goes out to you. It must be bloody tough to go through that. Their is no excuse for mum not arranging a card or a phone call at the very least - it is unforgivable that they make no effort to ensure the kids have a relationship their dad. A fair kick up the bum is required.
I am very lucky - breakfast of pancakes with caramelised bananas and blue berries with fresh orange juice finished off with a cup of tea. Then had a late lunch of roasted fillet of beef, truffle mayo, potatoes and salad with home made apple pie for desert - my wife is a great cook! A scene from a certain Monty Python film comes too mind...

Can't think which one you mean Mr Creosote.
I agree about the separation from your kids though. Mine mean the absolute world to me, and wouldn't like to contemplate a world without them. Dragging the kids into adult separations is truly awful.
I've seen it happen a few times, with mine and my wife's siblings (4 out of 7 marriages failed and turned acrimonious) and most recently with a couple of friends.

Wait until you see it from the kids perspectives. Few mates have been through that, and it really is quite sad, the lengths that parents go to in order to try and turn their kids against the other parent.
On the other hand, I know people whos parents have decided that they no longer love each other, but despite that they can put their differences aside for the sake of their kids, so they don't have to go through the process associated with parents getting a divorce. I thought that was quite touching, that they were prepared to make such a sacrifice for their children.
