A lightbar.
Has anyone tried one of these ?
Are they a good effective driving light at that lumen capacity ?

I would suggest that you look at the LED lights thread by 101Ron as you might wish to cancel your order,as I was going to get a light bar but am having second thoughts.

Maybe all is not lost... the 'bar is an 8 degree spot.
It matters not whether the LEDs are arranged in a line or around in a circle, the beams are narrow and pointed in the same direction.
Probably too late to cancel gracefully...:(
But you paid top dollar, IMHO. -assuming the cheaper ones are built as well as yours. However 4000+ lumens is not to be sneezed at and they make a point of 'no radio interference' generated. Might be another plus for you.

Thanks for the reply's.
No I will not cancel the order, I bought them in good faith so I will give them a go and let you know the result.
Bloke next door has one on his Prado and he reckons it is brilliant, tho his is a 24" Great White with 6000 lumens.
It would have to be an improvement on my poor old globed headlights.
Even on high beam you can see the banana shaped bow as as the poor old beam falls to the ground.
I could of course spend a lot of money and fit la de da new headlights but I thought that a light bar could be transferred to another vehicle if I wanted to.

The one under the roofrack is a 40 inch Baja Stealth bar - it's rated at 16,800 lumens. Works extremely well.
Once you've tried one, you won't want to drive anything without at night. ;)

Umm! Just remember one bar is not legal in Qld if front mounted. You need 2 or tape out the middle so there's a gap. Can't remember the distance, sorry.

Must have been lucky all these years in my 110 then. I have a 20" mounted in my bull bar which has been there for 2 years and no one has ever said anything to me. Plus see loads and loads of them on qld roads with out the tape

what Saitch says is true.
mate got pinged for it and that is what he was advised to do... so he put 50mm tape wrap around the center of it and happiness was attained.

I guess that's so. It's surprising that he put a 50mm tape, I would have reacted differently

Just FYI - several GW light bars have now suffered cascading failure across the arrays.
18mth to 2 years and it seems to start.
Several cheaper units are running like this.
And I have posted before - theoretical lumens from the emitter do not represent the real world output of these bars...

Aha! the regs may have changed, but have ALL the police officers been informed ? or is it like the displaying of "speed camera" signs here in Qld,now that has to be a joke, we had the camera 4x4 parked up by the side of the road alongside a vacant treed block with the doublesided sign beside the front bumper facing the scrub!
