Just wondering if anyone on here has any idea how to get the bushes out of the chassis? 10 tonne press struggle pushing the bushes out of the leaf itself

Use an oxy to burn out the rubber - removing the rubber and inner tube.
Then use a hacksaw with the blade inverted to cut through the outer shell carefully. (I usually make 2 cuts then use a chisel to remove the strip of metal between the cuts)

...or...
Someone VERY skilled with a gas axe can cut the outer shell out without damaging the chassis...

Hacksaw (as mentioned by Isuzurover) and/or make up an extractor, both shown in this thread http://www.aulro.com/afvb/series-i-land-rover-enthusiasts-section/46683-getting-series-1-ready-cooma.html

I'm not keen on burning out the rubber, used coarse hacksaw blade to cut through it instead.

Best of luck.

I've used both methods described above and much prefer burning the rubber out as it is so much quicker.

I found using an electric drill with a drill bit sligthtly smaller in diameter than the rubber thickness, drill through the rubber all round the bush then knock out the centre piece. Also two hacksaw blades together in the hacksaw will give you a wider slot and with a cold chisel close up the slot and the outer metal bush should come.

Yea just burnt the rubber and pushed it out with the inner tube, then used my little friend To cut them and then just punch them out took about 10 15 minutes a side :)
