TDV8 gearbox hesitation - am I dreamin'?

Hi guys, I've had my 2012 TDV8 for a couple of months now and I've just started noticing a distinct - and infrequent - large fall-off in power every so often. It seems to happen quite without warning. Suddenly, as I accelerate out of an intersection or a corner for example, the revs will tank to below 1,000, just a sudden and immediate loss of power. Then I'll tickle the throttle a bit, , the gearbox will figure itself out, and it'll pick up again and everything will be normal.
It happened just this afternoon, I was towing the boat back from the ramp. But it doesn't seem to be dependent on being under larger-than-normal load, it seems to happen completely randomly.
Has anybody else experienced anything like it?

Not for sure, but it sounds like your EGR valves could be sticking ? There are some similar threads on the Ffrr forum which might be worth a read.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation

If you could remove these your power goes up, BUT your fuel consumption goes down. They are fitted for emission control.

Thanks Laurie. I've searched the fullfat forum without much success so I've posted there as well. I'll drop into the local dealer in the next few days and see if they've got any clues. If there is something amiss, I guess a check of error codes might find something.

Greg, sounds like the system is cutting power, it will be doing so because of an issue - suspected or real. There will be logged faults.

Or maybe throttle position sensor

Okay, well I can't imagine it's an injector fault as described on the fullfat thread, since the car has only done 16,000km from new. But I've got it booked into Barbagallo service for some tests on Wednesday, so it'll be interesting to see what they come up with. Will report when I know more. Thanks for the input guys...:-)

I have had this problem before, it was the crank angle sensor. The only difference to the symptoms described is that as time went on the malfunctions became more frequent

In general, failing crank angle sensors tend to fail when they get hot. If you can get access to it, next time try spraying some cold water or drink onto it to see if the problems disappear for a few minutes.

I took it to Barbagallo service on Wednesday, where they did some error tests - no errors apparently - and reflashed some software. Hasn't happened since, so fingers crossed.
