Hey all,

Im after some advice on the stub axle/half shaft in my series 1. (55)

I stripped the swivel hub down and found that both this bronze bush, and the land on the half shaft are very worn.

I then read this thread which basically says it can be ignored - http://www.aulro.com/afvb/series-ii-iia/145172-front-stub-axle-bush.html

Is this correct?
It makes sense, especially if Rover themselves phased out the item - and it sure would be good not to have to replace them. :D

Cheers

The presence of the bush actually weakens the stub axle, many stubs have broken because of them over the years.

You do need them on the SIII/Stage 1 CVs and probably the 80" Tracta Joint CVs.

Yeah I have just been ready this thread too - http://www.aulro.com/afvb/series-land-rovers/163033-217354-bush-front-stub-axle.html

Thanks for the reply, I think I will leave it "as is" and think about it if I ever break a half shaft/stub!
