A couple of weeks ago , there was a question about the factory Land Rover Wheel Brace ? Now I have a Snap-on beaker bar with a 1 1/4 socket that I would have had for 30 plus years . This has always lived in whatever Landy I've owned . This got me thinking about the factory wheel brace , has anyone found anything else they could be used for ? :D:D cheers jimr1.

Sounds like a good set-up ....

...but I think you'll need 1 1/16" SAE or the equivalent metric socket (27mm) for wheel nuts on Series 3/Deefer/Disco 1 etc.

As for other uses for the factory wheelbrace I'm sure there are some (not necessarily related to he vehicle).

As for the 1 1/16" (or 27mm) socket and bar - on my 110 it is the bellhousing plug, on my D1 it is the crankshaft pulley.

ended up with 2 in the boot of my falcon as they fit the tow ball and trailer jockey wheel..

disco 2 was slightly larger to allow for the chrome wheel nut covers.

recently lost my wheel brace for the 130.
luckily I worked out it was missing before I got a flat or something as that could of been quite interesting.

I then found out how hard it is to find another wheel brace to fit the 27mm nuts...

ended up with a big long breaker bar and 27mm deep socket.

ended up being quite a expensive thing to loose :(

Ours worked perfectly in despatching an Asian gecko I found in the back of the D1 to Nirvana.

I stand corrected , It is an 1 1/16" I don't know why I just had It , It was 1 1/8" I don't look at the socket size I just use It as I know It fits , never to old to learn . :D:D cheers jimr1 ..
