How firm should a D2a wastegate solenoid be??

I have an '03 TD5 and have been checking under the bonnet, as usual.
Have read a lot of posts that say you should be able to move the solenoid and wastegate easily. I have removed my solenoid because it is all the way in, and the pressure from the internal spring requires a fair amount of force to pull it out.

Is this normal for a TD5 D2a??

yes they are difficult to move against the spring pressure. the beauty of the td5 is it will tell you if the wastegate is faulty, it'll either be extremely gutless, or go into overboost protection. another area of cause is the wastegate controller, an electric solenoid valve that can and does fail, causing faulty wastegate symptoms. defenders don't have one.

the wastegate actuator itself rarely gives problems.
