Looking for some advice with regard to the above. The cruise control buttons on the left are fine but the right side radio buttons are performing different functions. Eg volume down causes volume up, skip forward causes volume down. Skip back causes skip forward. Mode button is functioning correctly.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I very recently dismantled my left switch bank because the volume up and down buttons sometimes didn't work but worked after wriggling the wheel. So far they're all working properly again and my suspicion is that there was a poor connection at one of the plugs. However button functions hadn't changed so it probably was not the same problem as your's.

The plug you are talking about - where it it located?
Is the connector inside the steering wheel - that is one has to remove the air bag or is the connector somewhere down the steering column or say above the brake pedal?
I am starting to have a similar problem - that is sometimes the volume up or down does not function, but still mostly it does.

Its the connector behind the airbag. It plugs into the top of the roto coupling although I also disconnected the one at the switch. I suspect the one at the roto coupling because the coupling floats about when moving the wheel whereas the one at the switch does not.

Alright then. Thanks anyway. I was hoping it might be a common complaint with a relatively simple fix but maybe not so common.. cheers,

You could R&R the 3 plugs under the airbag to see if there's any improvement. I'm not 100% sure but it looked as though some of the wires from the left set of switches went across to the right set. There's a circuit board in the left set but don't know about the right set as I didn't dismatle that one. Removing the airbag is a simple and quick task once you understand what is required to unclip it. There's no need to unplug the airbag if you don't want to but no dramas anyway.

Hi Graeme,
Is there a set of instructions available explaining how to remove the airbag? My left volume / tuning joy stick is not working.
Thanks, Andy.

I should have taken a picture of the hook guide groove as knowing it exists means that the hook can be slid with the knowledge that it can't go astray. Keep the outer end towards you so that the inner end stays in the groove as it slides, then once it wont slide any further move the outer end towards the front of the vehicle to cause the inner end to move towards the rear to engage with the spring.

Thanks guys. Made the tool from a coat hanger. Popped off the airbag. Reseated the connectors and all buttons working like new again. You have to push pretty hard to get the airbag clipped back in. I didn't disconnect the battery or anything. Was a bit worried the airbag might explode. But it didn't. Photos attached. Cheers. Andy. 7398673988

Glad it worked out well, and there was no exploding airbag to contend with. ;-)
I had the same problem, but was still under warranty - dealer replaced switches. Think I'd disconnect battery if I was playing around with explosives though!! :-)
