Hi all
now I am at the stage of getting the most out the 186. I have ordered a high volume oil pump and will modify the sump to overcome the oil starvation issues.
The carby is currently a stromberg and I would like to go to a Holley...but which one?
Thanks

Get a small four barrel manifold and make an adaptor plate to use a Quadrajet's two primary throats only. Absolutely brilliant solution.

Forget the Holley - that will cause fuel starvation issues on hills, flat spots you can't tune out and you'll think there is a hole in your fuel tank. If you have a 2 barrel manifold ready to go, stick a Webber on it. Smoother. Better economy and won't conk out hills.
If as mentioned you still have to buy a manifold, find a 4 barrel manifold and go with the quaddie primaries.:)

Now that's a good question mate - we used to fit these a lot - you may need to make an adaptor plate by the way - but we used to go down to the wreckers and pull them off any car that had one - and I can't think off the top of my head which ones did....
I'll have a think and a search and see if I can find out.

from my research I have come across the 34ADM as the weber to suit the holden 186
There is one ebay at the moment for $30!

That's the puppy - we used to pull the auto chokes off them as they were a PITA.
$30 is what I used to pay for them 20 years ago - bargain!
You will need a 2 barrel manifold for it, and an adaptor plate. As you can see if you google (Images) them - there are a lot out there on Holden red motors - you can see on a lot of these photos the adaptor plate needed.
