Hi there, as a newby owner of a 2008 RRS TDV8 I have noticed it drops from normal to access height when parked for more than a couple of days in the shed. Drops evenly and fires back up to normal height once started. Question is: is this an issue I should be chasing up? What have others had to do to fix this? Thanks. p.s. just slowly working through so far minor issues since buying...... hope there's not too many more as its a great drive!

Most likely a slow leak and the vehicle is levelling downwards over time. Either disconnect the battery or remove the engine bay 20A suspension system fuse to stop the levelling which may show that 1 corner drops.

Finding leaks can be a PITA but if you apply a soapy solution to to the components, lines, joints, etc... It'll help you trace the leak as bubbles will start to form. Sticking it in Extended mode will help too when checking.

Hi Graeme, thanks for the suggestion. Have parked in the shed today and pulled the fuse. will be there for a few days so will let you know.

OK, so parked in the shed at normal height. 3 days later with the fuse pulled the front drivers has lowered (not all the way to access yet) while the rest are fine. So, any suggestions of where I should start? Front valve block? Air line to the drivers front wheel? Or just start with the soapy water and check everything? Any options more likely than another? Thanks for the advice.

Soapy spray starting at the front valve block (it may have split at the connection), along the airline, the connection at the top of the airspring (difficult to get good access) then all over the air-spring.

When I put my GOE emergency airup kit on, I felt that the front valve block (located on drivers side in front of the wheel, behind the lining) did not have very tight fittings. Took no effort to undo the air lines. I used locktite as specified in the kit, and I think now have a more secure connection.

I would try there first.

Brett, I assume this is the new non cutting GOE kit. I will have to have a look sometime. Mine is the cut the pipe type kit and I had a few leaks early on.

once turned off my 2011 RRS drops to access height within a minute not a slow leak just drops as if someone had pressed the button to drop, I thought this was normal until I saw this post. Is there something wrong is it meant to hold its height? does this mean my compressor might be working harder to constantly pump it up to normal height. No code or errors coming up

It is certainly meant to hold it's height.

Are you sure it is 'dropping' height and not just re-levelling height. Re-levelling is normal after you park. Dropping height is not.

My 2013 model drops to Access Height when I open the Tailgate or have the doors open for a while. Messages me on the screen when i start up again to say it was at access height. Not sure if this helps or not???

Maybe it is just releveling. It doesn't seem to go down to access height. So when the car stops it tries to level itself out. So if I park on a flat surface it shouldn't change much and if I park on a slope it will level up.

Does the car constantly try to level itself while driving?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm used to 4x4's like hilux's, The RRS is just a bit different!

Even if you park on a flat surface it may still re-level because you may have previously been driving on a camber, going up / down a hill etc.

Yes, it periodically re-levels itself as you drive. You won't notice it as your driving but you may notice it re-levels when you're stationary at traffic lights sometimes.
