After a long line of repairs, I've finally fixed the last of my oils leaks (and yes, I know it wont last long) . However, whilst I'm enjoying my present state of clean driveway bliss, I thought it might be interesting to run a poll and find out who's leaking where.
When I bought the Exxon Valdez almost a year ago, there were 11 separate oil leaks:
Rocker cover
Cam pulley seal
Crank puley seal
Left swivel
Left stub axle
Right swivel
Gearbox - remote selector housing
Gearbox - selector shaft spool retainer
Rear diff pinion
Left rear hub
Right rear hub
They're all fixed now, and I'm waiting with baited breath to see from where the next environmental disaster will spring.
So, what's your story, what have you done to curb or a least slow the LR automatic underbody oiling system?

I leak a bit from the gearbox at the moment (I think it is the conversion plate), and one swivel housing leaks a little, both are extremely small leaks though, maybe a drip every 2 days.

I thought that black stuff was rust inhibitor. :?: If it is my Rangie will never rust! Rangie to come off the road when i get the wife a sedan so i can fix all the leaks. Engine, gearbox, transfer case, power steering pump and fuel tank drain bung.

most of mine are so small they don't even drip. there's only 1 that's giving me greif at the moment, the transfer case. it's leaking at a steady rate. on a long trip on the highway i find spots on my tail gate. just another job to put off the household chores for style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

I can live with the oil leaks - they stop the driveway from rusting...
The one I'm worried about is the leak that leaves me with a wet right boot when it rains.. Do you think I can find it? I had the missus spray the rangy (with the hose!), while I was bum up down in the footwell... Didn't leak..
Missus just got a job as a window fitter though, so I'll get her to bring home some sikaflex, and just keep pumping it in there till it stops! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

Paul,
How come I can only specify one leak in your poll???
Most RR's have more than one leak (mine included) or they have no oil.

8) i usually leak in the garden between the pool and the lounge room, [don't tell]
but my land rover leaks where it wants to [like our dog]
usually front diff, aft of tfr case and the engine in small bits everywhere, and the power steering box
some of that lubricates the underbody

Hey BB, my Defender doesn't leak oil now either  .
Don't worry though, I'm sure that in time both our vehicles will recover from this temporary problem.
Richard...hmm, I didn't think this one out very well did I? Maybe the "most of the above" option is pretty much gets the point accross. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif Anyway, you don't have time to be answering polls, out with the silastic and socket set my man. You have work to do!! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

This makes me feel sooo good.....
When i first got my Rangie it leak abit from the radiator hose nothun major and alittle from the gearbox filler tube
Fixed the radioator hose by tightening the clamp.
And when i got my auto overhauled they obviously fixed the leak to the filler tube.
MY 1989 POS RR = ONLY EVER ROVER TO NOT HAVE A LEAK 8O style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif I am not complaining thou

Don't you drop a twistie every few metres? They're bright yellow and decompose after a few days and you can see them from the drivers seat!! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif
But then I get lost anyway because the bull ants have marched off with them...
