Tell you all about it later. But here are some teasers.

I reckon the bar looks the goods on a defender :)

My old GQ Poo-trol with the little 2.8TD engine had big 240 lightforce driving lights and it didn't have any adverse effect on engine cooling (did many trips through western Qld in summer).

Not sure how different the land cooling system is re: efficiency, but I'm sure others run these lights with no worries.

Cheers

I had the same bullbar/spotlight combo on my 200Tdi single cab. Once I replaced the water pump - no cooling issues.

I have been busy fitting the bar, spotlights, uhf, vhf aerial. Still need to install brake controller, power for the fridge. Mulgo rails are on order and my sheepskin covers front and rear should arrive this week. Had to laugh at the wife today when she burnt her bum jumping in the car that had been sitting in the sun. :-). I am also going to get some scroll work done on the panels and the cars name "Josie" painted in script on the drivers air vent.
I have a winch to throw on but need the mounting kit for it. Slowly starting to cross things of the list. All the jobs I had planned for the Xmas hols that didn't happen due to an obnoxious roo.

Uhf fitted.

Picked up power from the cigarette lighter and the main unit is in behind the roof liner. Aerial is through the rood with a tiny 1/4 wave aerial which seems to be best around the hills. External speaker sitting in the hole where the ash tray was. Rather neat!

Vhf Lead sits in the dash to the right of the radio to plug in the receiver when it is in the car, I can use the VHF aerial on the bull bar.

A guy I know that drives a tdi disco took his driving lights off his bullbar and he reckons he is achieving better fuel economy.

Is that possible?

I have taken the chip off the computer and now get better economy, though I am down on power. I guess it may be possible to get better economy by taking off the lights.

Be wary of the corners on those TJM bars. They are made of recycled baked beans cans, ask MLD!

Mine is bent as all buggery but thats because it had a poor repair in the past.

But they do look good.

I like them better than the ARB bar with the raised mid section. Baked bean cans? I think it is better than nothing. Does anyone know what the winch kit entails? Flat piece of 5mm steel?

The impact of driving lights on airflow is entirely dependent, the closer they are the the grill itself, the more they'll block the airflow. Having them on a bar means they're not too far back so the airflow can still get around them.
Looks good, I've always heard that the ARB bars are stronger but I'm sure it will do the job nicely :)
Fitting kit is just a steel tray AFAIK, bit tricky to come by, at least on a D2 that is.
Talk to Jose from Td5 inside, I'm sure he could have a play with the chip/remap and give you the power with some better fuel economy too :)
Looks cool

Dunno about that the 2nd hand TJM bar I bought the prev owner just had a winch bolted straight to the bar (no seperate cradle) and he recokned it was fine....

Not sure how thick the Bar is where the winch bolts on but I think if I placed a lump O' Steel behind it and bolt the winch through this it would suffice. Thoughts?
