8) well i went down to the gold coast on the w/e to check out a donor landy. it has been semi dissassembled by someone who was gunna put a six cyl in, then got repo-ed by previous owner! 8O so no rad or rad support panel, it has a full set of sunraysias with 50% tread on bridgey desert duellers so i can have two sets of rims , complete new exhaust system, two new wiper motors,a monster big aluminium bullbar with spotties,an original hard top (not like the bodgey one on my beast!!)complete motor, plus much much more,!!!!!!!just gotta get it home now  oh it only cost $400

:? yes it is a GREAT find , so great in fact i dont want to dissassemble it just get another one and rebuild number two, all the panels are soooooo straight, just not ex-mil so it may end up as some sort of transmogrification, thats something i like doing!a hodge podge of bits and pieces!!! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif 8) hmmmmmmm, a 351 cleveland sounds nice , witha split two inch system...............drool city!!!!!!

Sounds like a great score with some good bits. Although it sounds like you would be better off finishing the other one than doing up the current one almost style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
great bargin, i'd love a good cheap donor (I coulld do with a straight front right wing  ). No space for one unfortunately, but then again, we have to sell a car as it is at the moment (no, not the landy)

So how do you put a Cleveland into a Landrover? do you use the original gearbox? if you use an auto where do you mount the transfer case?

 yes windsors may be better,i have fond memories of an xr fairmont with a 289 that hauled ass! but was figuring on the cleveland for the longer stroke for better grunt down low, correct me please if i am wrong!
have seen it done many years ago when doing my apprentice mech. ,the bosses old man had a shorty with a 351 "shoehorned "in with a bonnet extension and rad. panel moved forward to line up with the front of the guards.the split exhaust spat like a dragon on cold winter morns!! 8O
oh and i will endeavour to get some pics if i get it home this w/e, forgot the camera last week , sorry

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif 8) yes it is very straight, nice clean tub guards and bonnet are top condition, little bit of rust(?) in the bottom of the doors and various amounts of rust in the chassis and firewall, so will probably be relegated to a farm hack, just take all the good bits off and swap them over to the green beast and vica versa! 8)

Nice piece of vehicel, depending on the rust situation, it looks pretty complete, i'd go with putting that back together, but either way, thichever vehicle ends up with the bits, it will look great after a coat of paint.

 Um ,pedro, the pics are of it sitting in MY carport ,AT HOME, although it nearly never got here! on the way down to the gold coast on saturday , on rounding a certain corner ,i looked out the side mirror to see the trailer coming out to pass me ! 8O Unfortunately the tow bar on the tojosan of mine decided to part company on one side ,leaving the trailer swinging from side to side.luckily the in-laws lived ten minutes away from where it happened ,so they came to the rescue. better to have happened then than when the landy was on its way home!!!!! 8O 8O 8O

:? not sure which way to go just yet, but swmbo wants a motorised wheel barrow for the paddock, so it may stay intact, with all the good bits going onto "greeney"and all its bits going onto "whitey" to make it into a farm hack, but that could change :? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Hi Ferno, style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
Looks like a real straight vehicle, if you send me a pp with the Chassis No. , I will endeavour to give you a year model from my Master Parts book, but it looks very much like 59-61 Series 2 lwb by the dash, dont worry, most parts are interchangable style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif Has it still got the 4 cyl in it? and is it a goer? or how much work would it need it be a goer, what model is your ex-army ?
cheers. Rocket style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

G'day Rocket,
well according to the calvin site, it is a 1960 series 2 109 lwb, that is very straight body wise , but deeper investigation reveals rust in some of the outriggers, and some bodgie repairs to the firewall style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif when i fisrt looked at it , i didnt really worry about checking the motor, other than it was all there and it is the 4 cyl, and it has a holden carby on it!however last nite tried to turn it over by hand to no avail, even tried the crank handle ( yes it had one!!)and not a cracker of movement style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif so it looks more and more like it may be just a donor vehicle and try to recoup any losses by selling off any unwanted parts(?)
the ex mill vehicle is a 1961 2a 109 , and so far have come up blank in trying to get any history background , have tried the remlr site ,but its not there , seems to be in one of those black holes!! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

well the rear lids are off and the donor lid has been put in place but it seems to be just a tad not quite rite, may end up using the donor tub as well,it is straighter than the present one ,just different in color, can anyone tell me of any differences between ex-mill/ civvy rear tubs, apart from the guards around the lights?
inc, if your interested, it looks like its being dismantled ,so send me a list of what you want, and i'll see what is available that i dont want! 8)
