Hi,

I can't believe it but instead of a D4 we bought the opposite a Defender 2006 TD5 with only 55k on the clock.

The previous owner spent a lot of money on the car and it was to good of a chance to let it slip past.

I'm sure I will have a few questions soon.

Cheers

Steve

I'm looking forward to seeing it in action! Suppose you aren't going to buy a Perentie now? There should be another auction announced in a few days time, or maybe next week.

2-3" lift and aftermarket mudguard flares will get the 35s to fit well :)
33s are a good compromise though, particularly since you aren't dragging a big sals diff around.
The radiator blind might not be all that useful in summer unless you are crossing rivers regularly!
That bullbar has a fantastic approach angle, but when I had one I ended up with a few dents in the mudguards that could have been prevented by having the bar I now have (ARB/TJM style). Just something to keep in mind.

The Maxi stuff will be plenty strong enough for 35s, it's the clearance under the wheel arches that is limiting at stock height/stock flares :)

I will hopefully go to the next Perentie auction, will give you a call when they are announced ;)

Now there's a good idea! I don't know my way around Mt Walker very well but can lead around other state forests if we go in to any :)

I wish I was heading out with Steve and Wayne this weekend to the best place in the world, instead i'm having an easy trip with the Series Landy boys and girls :)

I will post a MT walker trip soon, I had a another brief look at it last weekend and it looked quite a bit different then last time as I have only done middle part in d3 still want to do it bottom to top. There are also quite a few other interesting tracks at Lidsdale

Steve - That's way funny. It was only a matter of time you went a defender. If you work this truck over like you have the D3 and D2 it will be a capable unit.

If you go 35" think about upgrading the P38 rear diff. Might be a weak point if you continue to use such a heavy right foot.

Is Sebastian interested in taking the D2 off your hands? A step in the right direction from his Prado.

I'd be keen for Mt Walker later in the month. The 130 isn't ready for the hill climb, soon though. :D

Defender will be Family tourer so D2 (mountain goat) remains for the rough stuff and traveling with other Defenders like you :D..., not sure what you mean with heavy right foot if you look at my videos it's rather the opposite and I intent to keep it that way with Defender but need to get used to manual again.

Sebastian is looking at one of the Army Defenders so we will see...

Earliest I could do Mt walker would be 29th March

I can't believe it either, now I'm back on my own in the club with a late model Disco! But at least you stuck with a Land Rover.
