Hi All,

Introducing my latest acquisition, a 1956 Series 1 ute.

An extra big thanks to Mick_Marsh for lending his trailer so I could get it home.

Car looks pretty good. Some rust in firewall/bulkhead but otherwise appears ok.

Looks like an original motor. The engine model number 212192 seems about right although I haven't chased up the engine and chassis numbers yet.

Apart from the accumulation of dust and the paint flaking off the roof lining, the interior looks to be in great condition. The seats look almost new and it's even got the horn insert. :)

My first question is about the canopy which is sitting on the ute tub back to front. I think its an after market job as it is made of steel and quite rusted. Anyone know if they were an original option?

cheers

Wayne

Hi Mate,

I don't know how I missed this thread....

I can't answer your question but I would say that you are correct it appears to be an after market because:

a) It's made out of steel (hence the bad rust)
b) It almost looks like the canopy is on "back to front"??

Nice find..

I've been waiting for this thread in eager anticipation, and I find out it's now old news!

Well done. It looks a beauty.

When will I read about the other one?

I may be wrong but looks like placed that way for trasnporting the car, there is definately a rear door at the front.

Its a nice find... this deep slate blue is a great colour, its the colour mine should be... how does it run?

cheers
