I'm after a new fuel tank for the series 1, who and where is the best place to get one through?
It runs out faster than I tip it in haha.

If your after a nice new shiny Stainless one exactly as original (only Stainless) then Neil Furness of Furness Land Rovers in the UK is the man to see.
I don't know of anyone in Australia that makes them.
I got a price for one from him last week. Never got to find out the courier costs though... Im hoping to salvage and seal the inside of mine.

Think I will remove the cradle and start from there. I have an idea where it's coming from. See what I can fix with the TIG.

has anyone made up a blueprint for one? (interested mainly in 80" tank but other S1's would be handy too!)
I'm tempted to see a local bloke here (he's brilliant with stainless and aluminium ) and get a price for the tank with fuel cap/spout and fittings from an old one put in....
But I would need the measurements -- I'd want the side of the tank (the outside anyway) to display the X strengthening pressed into it.
have to be a good chance at being cheaper than the Uk ones, theyre nice but cost more than my whole car!!

I started making a galvanised one years ago, but half way through the job I found a rather good original one ;)
I made the pressings that Digger covets and they look quite good. The biggest hassle is re-using the rather rusty filler neck.
The original was folded on the edge seams and then soldered, but my plan was to fusion weld the seams with oxy-acetylene.
A good sheet-metal brake is needed or a decent press,
Cheers Charlie
if anyone would like a photo of where i got up to send me a PM,
Cheers Charlie

4 Wheel drives in Blackburn can get them made but you have to supply the filler neck.
Not sure if they are a perfect replica though.
