Sorry if this is too basic a question, but are you shifting to neutral before flicking the low range switch?

Mine goes bong and tells me to put it in neutral if I forget to.

Read the manual but did not find the bit about selecting neutral.

Read the manual but did not find the bit about selecting neutral.

Maybe you need to try reading again - maybe start with the index - look up Transfer gearbox - the sub headings listed in the next heading down.

The handbook talks about Hi and Low range and how to change when stationary and when on the move.

It is on page 162 of my RRS manual so will be around the same spot in your D3 manual.

Follow the instructions on the centre display is easiest - engage neutral, press low range, select drive and away you go. Can do this on the move too and if you're too fast it will not do it.

My wife still reaches for an imaginary lever and cannot bring herself to change range on the move. Some days I think she's stopping to get out and lock front hubs ... Haha
