Has anyone fitted a DEF90 overhead console from OUTBACK Accessories
to a puma defender 110?
Thanks to Tombie & Emma I have one now :) but the online instructions tell me that I should fix the rear mounting plate to the rear light fitting....
http://www.4wdinteriors.com/landrover/dfndr-w/rc.htm
But its not there in the puma....
Hopefully someone has done one and can enlighten me, I have everything with it bar the instructions for a current model defender. Unfortunately OUTBACK Accs havent replied to my email requests and I tried ringing a
few of the authorised installers but they also dont have a copy (they throw em out!)
Cheers if you can help

I think as much as V8Ian's reply was tongue in cheek, i think he is on the money. Only solution i see is screws or pop rivets. seeing as the 110 doesn't have the light in that spot.

i think

drop the lining to see if the brackets are there.

If not, it should be easy to make something up since the ribs are inside on a puma, even though there are less, ( weight saving to compensate for all that copper)

I may be at TRS next week i could have a gander at a wreck, and maybe pinch some bits.

Failing that i would say 4 4" tek screws

With our 110 one that was meant for a 110 because the roof had to come off to do the rust in the firewall we actually found that the console came loose after they refitted it we took it off to find the screws holes had been mashed up and widened
So Ian just chucked a couple of rivnuts in problem solved

Thanks guys,
I have contacted the manufacturer and will await a reply, I assume it will be as easy as a template I hope they can email me.. If so I'll add it up.
(I have the brackets etc and dont mind drilling them in but want to be sure...this is the last new defender I'll likely ever own! -Especially since they're stopping making them.)
Thanks Dean but I reckon I should be OK with the template...
(How did Gabby pull up after Melrose? Will was knackered!)

i am pleased that some one got 1 of the two meanings there.

and yes Gabbi was sullen when we got back but back to normal now, complaining about his saw backside. to much BMX i think

I understand there's a rib running across the roof at that location. ie where the two sheets of the roof lining meet and are held up by plastic "Xmas tree" clips inserted into the cross rib.
In that case it should be possible to insert a couple of rivnuts/nutserts into that rib without penetrating the roof. Just need to get the measurements right re their location.
Alternatively, use bloody big self tappers or pop rivets to hold the bracket on.
Or make up a bracket like this... http://www.vislandrovers.nl/extra/accessoires/acdef/Fitting%20Instructions%20TFDRC%20Roof%20Console.pd f

Oh, forgot to mention...when drilling the cross rib, make suré you don't drill too deep! Maybe best to put a sleeve on the drill bit to restrict its penetration'.

I usually use one of the first two approaches in the video on this page, first one if I am confident, the second one (the dowel) if I really don't want to stuff things up!

Didn't know you could get "thick" condoms!
And certainly not ones with the end cut off ;)

Mate you use a thick condom so you doint make thick kids sheeesh, thin condoms for skinny kids etc. didnt your dad teach you about the birds and the cabbage patch stork

i guess you havent lived in Russia or china ( a bit on the small side)

as for the end i guess you could use an axe

fantastic service I must say!
Maybe this file could be slotted into a useful files folder somewhere for the puma/defender owners of the future?

my verson, i wanted my sun visors back.

with a poofy puma you HAVE to follow instructions,
with a 300tdi you can use tec screws

But with a county you can use 6" nails

I reckon you ought to market this as a kit for County owners. But make sure you include comprehensive instructions, with lots of pictures!

Never. It was interesting at Melrose, and I do not mean any disrespect to anyone, it a matter well in my case I have some skills and no money.

But the more a vehicle costs to purchase the more they look the same.

puma owners say things like, i like that where did you buy it from.

County owners, say, I like that but I would have made it this way.

Of all the counties " isuzu's" I know in SA are all very individual and interesting in there setups. ops Bar one and he’s a pom. On here some where but not a member of the land rover register. Last time i spoke to him he was thinking of changing his doors for defender ones, you know the ones that break, silly man.
