Behind the instrument panel of my S2A FFT, mounted on the firewall, is a small (about 2cm long) rectangular box with two double electrical connections. These are labelled B and I. The only other info is that it is made by Smiths UK.

Can someone please tell me what this is?

Do you have the later dash with the thermo gauges? These run on nonimal 10v which this device provides.

Good thought, but no - definitely not that. I will photo it tomorrow and post here.

Does it look a bit like this? If so, as mentioned it's the 10 volt regulator for the gauges. 'I' is the female terminals, and 'B' is the male terminals.

If it's knackered, it's easy and very cheap to replace with an electronic version. I bought a pack of 5 for a few dollars from RS components. They can be soldered into the existing housing fairly easily.
