One thing I noticed when going off to work this morning, was a really odd looking moon. Funny yellow colour, and an odd shape.

Too much cloud here to see it tonight though.

The article talks about the honey coloured moon being due to the moon being close to the horizon during mid summer. It is the northern hemisphere mid summer at the moment. So I guess we will just have an ordinary full moon.

Sunset is near, I am taking my camera and heading to the mountains. I hope to be able to share something interesting with you.

We were spared all of those nasty wolf type thingy's prowling around out the back, slobbering and looking for a throat to bite because it was heavily overcast.
I even took me garbage bag out and put it in the bin at about 8-30.
Never gave it a second thought.

PS: I'll keep my eyes open and tread carefully and check the shadows in 2049.

Yes, it was a nice clear night, and the moon did look clear and bright, which helped the &%#@@** fruit bats that were fighting over the flowers in our Grey Gums

I couldn't see anything, the sky was overcast no wolf nor blood sucking bats around, even Dracula did not come out. :D

I will try tonight, the moon wouldn't have changed much.

Hi,
well they've gone nuts in Hobart with the mid-winter festival.
The water front is jumping.

Saw that on the idiot box earlier today - looked very impressive. Apparently members of the public could have a go at manipulating the lights.

Will have to plan one of our trips down there to be there when the festival is on - or maybe wait until we move down there permanently. Wonder if you could see the light show from our place at South Arm .............

Just to say, the moon rose from the sea looking exactly like the first photo last night here in Ireland. It was spectacular, shining an orange trail across the water that happened to be almost like glass.

The honey thing is interesting, does that have some relation to why the getaway after a wedding is called honeymoon?

That is what the article in the first post was suggesting. It makes sense. Have your wedding in summer and near a full moon, so it is warm and you have some light after sunset.

Went to the mountains with the hope of having a clear view, mainly being above the clouds.

The expected moon rise was at 9 p.m., I arrived at around 8 p.m. but no luck wasn't at my side the clouds were even higher and blocked the view.

Installed my gear and waited for a miracle to happen, it did when I packed my camera and tripod at around midnight and was heading to my car, than suddenly it cleared up. There it was shinning between the clouds.

Picture taken handheld while leaning on the 110 bonnet.

I would have preferred to take the picture while the moon was rising from behind the mountains, this must wait till next time in 2049 :D

The honey moon happens every summer. That far off date is for it to happen on a Friday 13th of June.
