Hi all. Thought I'd start a thread with a few pics and descriptions of some of the accessories and mods I do to my D3 as an ongoing record, in case others find it useful. I often do things a little differently... Will list suppliers and part numbers where possible also.

First off is a simple accessory, but important in principle; a way to hold my phone and avoid the $433 and 3 demerit points (in Vic).

Brodit/ClicOn D3 specific accessory mount Centre Mount - 05-09 - Discovery 3 - Land Rover - Dashboard Mounts - Device Mounts | HoldMyPhone (http://www.holdmyphone.com.au/mounts/car/land-rover/discovery-3/discovery-3-05-08/centre-mount.html)
Brodit/ClicOn iPhone 5/5S charge holder Adjustable Active Holder- Multiple Skins - iPhone 5/5C/5S with skins - Apple - Phone Holders & Cradles - Device Holders | HoldMyPhone (http://www.holdmyphone.com.au/holders/phone/apple/iphone-5-with-skins/iphone-ipod-touch-fixed-install-adjustable-holder.html)

And this is what it looks like when fitted, cabling runs inside the fascia, currently to a cig lighter 2.1A twin USB power plug. Will hard wire later. I drilled a hole in the fascia behind the clip to run the charge cable through. Replacement fascias are available on ebay for around $60 if ever I need to change it.

Looks good will, how long of a job was it?

Just a friendly tip, use the direct link at the bottom of the photo, then the image tag to post it, gets the photo up and not the thumbnail.

Thanks Baz. Took about 15 minutes all up including removal, drill, fit, install and wire.
I deliberately used a thumbnail so that the pic was not in-you-face, but could be clicked on if the reader found it interesting. This thread is more of a record, as I didn't expect that it would be all that interesting in comparison to the more radical/serious/expensive build threads around

I have a cunning plan for mounting my Uniden UH8080, if it works (I'll test it tomorrow) I'll post another pic...

Mine fits here...when I'm using it - otherwise it "lives" under the floor in the cargo area till I need it.

Mounted the ARB CKMA12 compressor in front of the main battery using 4 x 6mm rivnuts, which use a 10mm hole. Drilled in 3 stages, not a lot of room to get the rivnut tool in, but neat and firm.

Final mounting spot, ready to be wired.

Have finished the wiring on the compressor, ended up going very simple in it.
Safari snorkel was done a couple of weekends ago, always a nervous time when cutting into nice clean panels.
Also have installed a Labtronx aerial mount (http://www.labtronx.com.au/aerial-bracket.htm).

Looking good Will, those BMW rims do look good, very similar to the D4 18s.

4 roof bars, first time I've seen 4, what's going on top!

Hi Baz, no particular plan for the roof at this stage. I used 4 as I'm slightly OCD and the spacing has to be perfect (it is to the mm both length and width lol). This spacing of 510mm centre to centre gives me 1.6m spread over the 4 bars, and plenty of overhang capacity too.
The bars are rated to 100kg per pair, I'm aware of load rating on the roof, dynamic vs static etc. too. At this stage there will be a couple of Black Wolf Turbo 240 tents going on them in November for 4 days in the high country. Blue Rag, Wonnangatta etc.

Great setup Will. Some inspiration there. What is the Traxide extra earth plate? I too have one of Tim's DBS kits but haven't come across an earth plate.

The plate is a big slab of laser cut stainless steel that screws over the existing earth points in front of the battery, and adds a large gauge extra earth point. Best seen here:

I drilled another hole exactly squarely placed in the bottom right hand corner, and added another stainless bolt, for a spare point

Looks great Will. Be interested to hear how the 245/70s go. I am looking ahead to what I replace my 18in AT3s with, and am considering 265/65 or 245/70 in 17s. I have a fair bit of tread left on my AT3s but they are cracking between the tread block.
