Hi all
My 110 decided out of the blue to lose all drive
So wife was driving and said she changed gear and there was no drive in any gear
When I got there tried the car
Won't go into gear with out clutch so I thought I would just drive home with out the clutch.( not the first time I have done it in my time) . Turned off engine and put into gear and the started engine and the car sat where it was in gear with the engine running. No noise from any thing nothing. Turned of car and put into diff lock then started it again and still nothing.
The slave and master are not leaking and look fine. Fluid level is full and no signs of leaks.
Thought at first , it might be the folk but the clutch would still work if that had gone as all that does is disengage the clutch.
The car was running fine at the weekend. Normal clutch pedal and no slipping clutch , car running fine.
Any ideas of what it might be. Bit if a new one on me
Cheers
Ali

Has it slipped into neutral in the transfer box?
If it is engaged in high or Low transfer, try engaging the CDL. If it drives with the CDL locked, you may have broken a CV or axle. Just noticed you already checked that.

Not good Ali, Possibly stripped main shaft splines / transfer input gear? assuming its not jumped into neutral as opposed to high/low

I am hoping clutch but am thinking it is the lay shaft in the gear box or something like that.
Was hoping that it had jumped into neutral in the high low lever as that is what it felt like. But no such luck.
Biggest problems was my wife call me to meet here with the car so I was in a suit so could not really get under it to have a look.
Car now at Greg Tunsalls in Cleveland as I thought if I get RACQ to take it home I have to then tow it somewhere again anyway.

Sounds nearly identical to what happened to my 110 a month or two ago.....
Driving along, everything was normal, came to a corner so went to go for fourth gear but I just couldn't select it, tried all gears but the same story, clutch felt normal, once I was stopped I tried but couldn't get it into any gear, then after a few goes of turning the engine on/off I could select gears but there was no drive at all, tried high/low and difflock etc but still nothing, turned out that the centre of the clutch friction plate was half separated, sounds to me like your Def has the same trouble....
Easiest way to find out is to pull the round plate off the transfer case just behind the gearbox and get the engine running, put it in gear and let the clutch out, if the output shaft is spinning then it is not the clutch, if it's not then I'd be willing to bet the clutch plate is the problem..

I have no idea of the cause but out of interest how many kms on the car?

It's a 1995 model and has done 412k, according to the previous service records it had a new HD Valeo clutch fitted at approx 220k from memory.
I'm pretty sure the reason I couldn't select gears at first was because of a loose spring stuck between the pressure and friction plates... Maybe! The clutch felt normal the whole time so not sure.

Update is sounds like same as yours or shaft between gearbox and transfer box
So next job is to take out the gearbox and look and see what the clutch is like and if no signs there them look at the gearbox.

No nothing just loss of drive. No noise no lead up to it.
Even the mechanic who called this afternoon is very puzzled.

Iv'e seen a diff brake all of its crown wheel bolts thus losing drive. No noise, smooth operation, just no drive. Maybe check if the tailshaft is still turning but not the wheels.

I put the car in first and started it and it ran with out going anywhere. I looked under and saw that either of the props shafts weren't moving.
I have had what you are talking about on my old winch challenge truck. That was Kam ring and pinion and ARB lockers. And that made a mess.
I have had fun with center diffs going but they make noise first. Last one was in a RRC at 60ks and it locked up. Car just violently stopped. Had to remove both props just to move it off the road.
But this was very strange as no warning.
Now in at Greg Tunstalls in Cleveland. They are about to take out the gearbox as it is either the clutch or gearbox / transfer box. So it will have to come out anyway.

Well taken the gearbox out and the clutch has shattered. So needs new clutch
But redoing some gaskets on the gearbox while it is out and replacing everything in the clutch. Putting in a 130 clutch.
Also new rear main going in as mine is starting to weep.
Don't want to be taking it back out again
But this was a new one on me. Never had a clutch go like that with no warning.
