The vehicle may not be especially remarkable, but the story behind it is mildly interesting.

My brother was in Germany recently and spotted this Land Rover competing in a classic car fund raising rally. I assume that speed was not an important consideration since there were a lot of Porches, E Types and Alfas and similar European cars in the event.

i thought that style of bonnet was only fitted to Series IIIs in Australia. Is that right?

I may be wrong but I believe thats a 'standard' deluxe bonnet,
I thought they were available all over definately in USA & Canada as well.

I have a late model 109 2A with that bonnet fitted.

The deluxe bonnet was available from the start of S2a production. It was standard on Series 3, and, I think, standard on S2a lwb, at least when fitted with cab or hardtop.
