LPG system removal

Hi all
I know next to nothing about LPG systems, apart from the fact that it works, so bear with me, please.
1985 3.5 County

I'm preparing the County for licensing and want to remove the LPG system. I have a couple of reasons for this:
1. the heads are gone and I'm preparing and replacing with 2 spare heads I have,
2. the original carbs are coming off and being replaced by a better pair of CD175's with K&N pod filters,
3. apart from the fact that the system works, I have no idea what issues licensing may discover with the system and I need the car licensed and running swiftly, so don't need extra costs/time sorting out LPG. In the future I'd like to instal an injected 3.9 and may look at re-instating LPG at that point with a better system.

Can the removal of a system be done "at home"? The vessel is almost empty, but it hasn't run out yet.
What steps need to be taken to do this safely? Is it worth retaining the existing supply line for the future and just removing the vessel and engine bay plumbing.

Although its illegal to work on a LPG system yourself this doesn't stop most home mechanics from doing it anyway. The most important thing to do is to close off the gas tank valve to the pipe to the engine and make sure that you are well clear of any stray ignition sources, eg HWS pilot lights, before you undo any liquid carrying fitting. Any plumbing connected to the tank will contain some liquid under pressure, but the flow should stop completely in 10-20 seconds. Then the container is safe to remove.

I suggest you remove as many bits of the system as you can including the pipe to the front, all new conversions are supposed to get new pipe in any case. A vehicle that doesn't look like it's been on gas will pass an inspection more easily.

As Bea-utey says and remove the lpg compliance certification plate from the engine bay a dead giveway.
