Boot Mats. Yes I know it's boring subject but I've just taken delivery of my MY14 Disco 4 SE and I'm going to need something to protect the cargo area.

What have you got, what shouldn't I get?
Are the big moulded mats you see on ebay any good?

I'm not alergic to spending a few dollars if it does a good job of protecting the car.

I bought a "rubber" boot floor mat on ebay. It was molded to fit rear cargo area and has sides that prevent spills overflowing. I had a cargo barrier installed and it still sat in ok as it simply raised up a little (not much at all) where it met the barrier. It is sturdy yet flexible. I put my wife's roller/walker in the back and simply run the back wheels over the rear lip without any problems as it simply flexes as the wheel s pass over it. I haven't bothered to cut out access holes to the tie downs but this would be a simple thing to do with a sharp knife. I also bought rubber floor mats as well and they fit quite well but I only use them if I go 4WDing. I had bought them before I took delivery and then the car came with mats installed by the dealer even though I hadn't ordered them :D

Just make sure you get ones that fit the MY14 - I would presume it's exactly the same as the MY13 etc but it doesn't hurt to check.

I got a molded cargo one on eBay good thick rubber has no rubber smell at all very playable came all rolled up just sat it in the sun for half an hour and went back to normal and was only about $140 or so has a nice non slip and says booter.com on it and I think the Land Rover one was quoted at about $500 so yeah just couldn't justify the extra money.

When we took delivery of our "Almond" interior MY14 one of my first priorities was protecting the boot floor carpet from the abuse of daily family duties...

We had a plastic/rubber mat with the rim around the edge in our previous Subaru and while it did a good job of protecting the boot floor it did irritate us a bit by sliding around on the floor, and heavier plastic items would slide around on top of it. I was also worried about what to do when I suddenly wanted to use the rear seats but had this awkward mat to try and stash somewhere...

This time I went to a carpet shop, bought a $40 loop-pile carpet mat which almost exactly matched the floor colour, took it home and cut it neatly around the boot shape, then took it back to get it "edged" professionally for another $40.

So for $80 all up I have a mat which looks like it was sold for it, and when I want to use a rear seat I can just roll it up behind the back row in 10 seconds. It is not waterproof but will take the abuse for a few years when I just plan on getting another one.

Won't really suit if you need something waterproof but works for us!

I got a basic $50 mat from Clark rubber. It is very easy to trim to fit but I used the oversized flaps near the tailgate to protect the sides near that area. Being cheap I would have no concerns cutting access to the tie downs.

I had the genuine LR rubber mat thrown in buy the dealer, and mats in all the footwells as well.:)

Thanks everyone. I got the rubber mats thrown in on the deal but didn't even think about getting the one for the boot.

My concern with the ebay mats is are they likely to cause things to slide around in the boot...

I like the idea of the custom carpet for the boot, that was a nice touch.

I got a rubber one thrown in by the dealer. It's sitting in the shed collecting dust. I ended up with one from www.hatchbag.co.uk Very happy with the fit and durability. I've had it for 18mths or so now.8127681277

That's the one I got off eBay love it and yeah nothing slides around. Although I love the hatch.co.uk ones although they are a bit dear.

I got one from eBay when I got my D4 back in 2010 and it is more of a "carpet" type finish with a very large LR logo embossed in it. It is fully synthetic and rinses and dries quickly. Also velcro-backed "boxes/cargo space dividers" attach really well to it and don't slide around at all. I can't find the same mat on eBay, but it is probably more close to this one.

I was selling my rubber LR one previously. No one in Adelaide wanted to buy it and it was too hard to figure a way to send it interstate for those that were interested. I didn't think that the hatch bag ones were too dear for what you get. Nothing else compares really as the level of protection up the sides and the tailgate carpet is fantastic. I have the light colour interior too so keen to keep that nice.

Hi Epic

Im really impressed with the hatchbag stuff & that it virtually protects the entire rear section. Is it made from vinyl?

Cheers

It's a PVC coated fabric. I've not looked after mine and it's still going strong.
I had to cut some holes in it to fit a cargo barrier as I didn't get the cargo barrier version of the bag. It's been a very satisfying purchase.

That one *almost* looks like the genuine LR cover I bought when I got my D3... except that one doesn't have a pocket in the centre tailgate section - with a pair gloves in it! (They're useless gloves by the way :D )

I just looked up the part number: VPLAS0002 and it does still come with "gloves".

Fitted the boot liner from UK Custom Covers over the weekend and put the Clark Rubber rubber mat on the top. Great combo for protection and non slip practicality. Very happy.

Hi Disco...I'm getting ones of these shortly, good website too. Did you get yours from their Ebay site or go direct?

Could you also confirm the postage if possible.
Cheers

My wife bought it direct from their website (birthday pressie). Not sure of postage but from memory it's listed on the website. Certainly wasn't exorbitant.
