I think that colour of vehicle and description would be a public service announcement. no rego plates, though.
If it was my wife or daughter driving, I would say thankyou for giving me the opportunity to save their life by some counselling.
It may also have been stolen.

A lot of knobs on the road normally there in hiluxes but sadly we have crap drivers in land rovers too. Time place and description would be good.

It's common. People are dumb sometimes. Just not paying attention, trying to get some where, autopilot, daydreaming or just plain being stupid.
Then again, some drivers do not understand the concept of safe stopping distance.
Alas, once upon a time the mere mention to my wife that she was too close to the vehicle in front would cause her to snarl and dismiss the idea.
Then one rainy day on the way to the airport not 10 seconds after one such comment & reaction she drove the tow ball of the 4x4 in front of her through the front & radiator!
She learned & is a safer driver for it today.
You're post made me chuckle though. Just the other day a bloke was convicted of shooting out the fuel tank of a car doing a similar thing to you (his claim).:twisted: Don't own a .357 do ya? :wasntme:

Well, for those interested, it happened this morning just after 11 on the gateway motorway, just outside of Boondall, northbound.
The vehicle was a late-ish model TD5 Disco, personalized plates, 3 letters, 2 numbers, white text on a black plate. I'd call it a "champagne gold" or "champagne bronze". Wasn't jacked up or anything, 5 spoke mags. 5th wheel was also a mag, hanging off the tailgate.
One old lady driver, dark hair, wearing sunglasses as black as night. Might have been wearing diamond earrings?
She started tailgating just outside Boondall, nearly pancaked me into the light rigid just after the three lanes separate (two to the sunny coast, the other continues straight). Nearly ran up my arse just before the motorway bridge that's painted blue. I managed to jump into the left lane after a ute passed, then she tailgated the light ridgid. She seemed to follow me relentlessly, followed me from lane to lane, tailgating every time I accelerated out of her way. At one point I SWEAR she slowed down so I'd go past her, only to have her up my arse. This continued well onto the Bruce Highway northbound, she was speeding all the way, did not slow down for roadworks, at which point I contacted Police link, gave them a full description of both vehicle and driver.
You did the right thing, she needs a major attitude adjustment.

And a big sack of hairy camel's balls to the ***** in the black Range Rover who cut me and my mate off at the round about at the top of Mt Coot-tha in Brisbane on Sunday afternoon. Sure, we were on bicycles, but we had lights on and the idiot just didn't even look to see if anybody was entering the round about on their right. My mate stopped in time but if I had been in front I would have probably run into them just to teach them a lesson and scratched their pretty RR up good.

I never understand why people get so upset about tailgaters.....its pretty simple, just pull over and let them pass, they wont tailgate you parked on the side of the road:D
It sounds a long time to sit and be stressed, for something you could easily resolve in a matter of moments yourself

I would have loved to see that, a pushbike running into a RR to teach him a lesson:eek:
Don't you realise roads are made for motor cars and they are a lot bigger than pushbikes (even though you may be in the right).
It would be like me trying to ram a road train in my 110.
Pushbikes are one reason I have bar work on my car.

Ignoring the cyclist vs car issue,
Vehicle 1 , RR was on roundabout, vehicle 2&3 entering roundabout. Does not vehicle 1 have right away?

Uho! Back to topic. I had a person follow me for about 2 k last night with their lights on high beam. Being a late model vehicle, the lights were the Xenon type thingies I assume & made my eyes hurt. As I sloooowly turned into our drive I yelled out the window requesting they kindly dip their lights & they did but, how could someone not realise that the vehicle in front of them was being slowly fried!

Same as the idiot that drives for miles with their indicator still on.
Coming home tonight i was driving straight in the middle lane and i saw a corolla to my left heading towards my passenger door, got closer and closer so i got on the horn as they were within an inch of my door i reckon :o.
I quick dab of the brake pedal will let tail gaters know that you're ****ed.

Quite the conundrum for me actually. I love these forums and in no way do I want to offend anyone, but today I was damn near killed by the driver of a TD5 Disco. By damn near killed, I mean pancaked between their front bumper and the rear of a light-ridgid.
I originally came on here with full intent to post the details of their vehicle, but in the interest of peace keeping I'll hold it back for now.
Nearly being written off at 100km/h+ was just the start. The stupid bitch driving it followed me into other lanes, tailgated me for 10-15 minutes, speeding on the highway, speeding thru roadworks, at one point she was so far up my arse that she didn't see my indicator which had been on for at least 30seconds to a minute.
So if there's any disco owners out there that can't figure out where the fuel leak is, or is wondering why the Police have come knocking, you can bet ur sweet ass that I was involved.
Rant over
Not really sure the make of the car/4x4 really makes a difference. If someone is going to drive like an idiot, they're going to regardless of what they're driving.
Naming and shaming would work if you knew their name, not what they're driving.

What a dumb response. If YOU were being threatened by some tool on the road and you felt that it was worth a bit more than responding by your simple flash of your lights or a toot of the horn sort of encounter, wouldn't your next move be ring for help???. No matter what the situation??? Road rage is unacceptable, flash your lights and toot the horn....then get over it.

Toot toot! I can't fathom why the OP didn't just stop, pull over out of the traffic lane and let the "tool" go on their merry way. We've all felt threatened by another drivers' behaviour at one time or another I'm sure, but as a regular motorcyclist the drivers I'm most wary of are the ones using their bloody mobile phones while driving. In the circumstances the best action might have been to just stop, and ring the police. Just my opinion, mind, I wouldn't want to call someone dumb on the first date.

Thanks baz, last thing we need is people stirring the pot, I don't care if this becomes a rant thread, we all need a good rant, but blaming victims for another idiots mess is not how I envisioned this proceeding.
If that's how other members are going to act, then honestly I'd rather go elsewhere and I have no problem with the thread being deleted or my membership being revoked.
Like life, there is things you can do, to prevent the blood pressure to rise, just as pulling over and letting the tailgater pass you would of done on the road, I don't condone what others do, but its an extremely simple solution:)

p.s. I get my fair share of tailgaters too. I can't figure out the mentality of somebody tailgating a heavy vehicle.

Me too, occasionally. From past experience, when a 1 tonne 'crumple-zone' collides with a 16+ tonne bus.... you hear more than you feel it.
No, I can't figure it out either... but they'd be horrified to know just how quickly an empty bus can stop....

Pulled over, (that indicated he pulled off to the side and stopped) or changed lanes? I'm pretty sure if he had not even stopped, but dropped a significant amount of speed, they would simply pass....but I usually have a simplistic view on complicated stuff:D

Pull over and stop. If you are worried about the person getting out of his/her vehicle and then attemping to assault you or damage your vehicle, as soon as they get out, drive off. By the time they get back in there car, your gone.
Changing lanes and trying to get away makes it hard to tell if they are chasing you or just in a hurry and as your taking the quickest passage throught the traffic, they are just doing the same.
Happy Days.

Fair dinkum, must be the end of the World, I reckon. I don't think we can get over this, they were probably Columbian drug dealers, had a gun to her head, OR, she had a runaway vehicle, unable to stop, OR perhaps we should all stop watching too many shows on the television. Just get over it. Bob

I'll mention a funny story (about time we put a bit of laughter into this Thread) a couple of years ago I was parked at the bus layover area at Newcastle University, taking it easy and reading the paper before my next run.
When suddenly there was a loud crash and the bus jolted.:o I ran around the back and.......(I kid you not).......a golf buggy was jammed under the back of the bus.:o The cleaners at the Uni. use elongated golf buggies to carry their gear around.
The driver was like a stunned mullet sitting there with the steering wheel which had come loose from it's shaft, in his hand. I said "are you alright, mate" he said "I think so".
The buggy was jammed under the back of the bus and because it was registered and undriveable the cops were called and we were both breath tested and statements taken.
This bloke told me he did not see me. I mean the bus ( a full size bus, not a mini bus)was BIG and a very BRIGHT yellow colour. I strongly suspect he was on his mobile phone.
The cop who took my statement said to me "I think you had better get a bigger bus, mate":p
The other drivers at the depot gave me heaps when I got back and did not let me forget it for months.
