This is one of the largest companies in the world.
Note that they have a very positive approach to both climate change and carbon emissions.
No deniers here.....they cannot afford to be with a bigger budget to control than Australia's economy.
Agricultural giant Olam International says climate change is 'absolutely a reality' - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-08-10/agricultural-giant-says-climate-change-absolutely-real/5659058)

He was on a an A-PAC broadcast a few months ago and Is a good to listen too. 3 senior spokesman offering selective opinions on self help with Africa.
very good if you can find it on line.
At the time he was talking about planning for migration and natural climate change. The climate changes people migrate. not people change the climate to stop migration.

he appears to know more about Australia and it's needs and requirements than our govt.
and he's prepared to do whatever is needed to be done

Mate, Upon your recommendation I watched the program, & I found it interesting.
But that is not actually what he said.
He actually did compliment our productivity with respect to the cotton industry, & said we were going pretty well in other areas as well, and that because of food shortages in India & China, there would appear to be some pretty good opportunities for some of our rural/food producing industries.

No blinkers mate, NO blinkers at all,.... Just an accurate comment as to what he ACTUALLY said, in relation to what you said he would say,...which he did not say.
I also note, and also what I was actually expecting, in view of your "O.P.", there was no mention of what his country, and China, were doing with respect to the matter that obviously concerns you so much?....And, to be honest, I have no issue with your concern,....only how it will be resolved on a WORLDWIDE BASIS, where something could be achieved, not on a ridiculously small individual basis, where a contribution of only .5% is made, where these measures would've crucified many in Aus, with absolutely no measurable improvement to...Global Warming.
A good discussion hurts nobody. Pickles.

I listened to Sunny Verghese in many occasions he is a realistic and have a vision about food, the need to produce it, the future on food production and factors that affect it, including the need of water, climate change, national security, etc.
I recommend this video, I was so impressed with the way that explain this problems that I have it on save in a CD and also keep it on my bookmarks.
Download it because it can be a good reference for the future.

well Pickles , he's only the CEO of one of the worlds largest agricultural companies in the world , representing 65 different countries.
His comments were not directed only to Australia as you seem to have pointed out.
He obviously completely understands climate change , it's future effects on the planets food table and the effect his businesses have upon carbon emissions and water usage and the vision to do something about it now , so there is less effect upon the future.
We need more visionary leaders on this planet like him and less people like you , who will not accept the truth.

Don't be fooled a CEO of a company that big will have his business interest first, and Australia will play a big part in any agriculture industry .
I would assume that due to the size of his business interest he has to recognise climatic changes, doesn't mean he is not turning a blind eye to other areas in the world.
I hope he is the so called visionary you speak of , but his business interest would lead me personally to be a bit sceptical.
Cheers Ean

Mate, I do agree, that we do need to accept more "Visionary Leaders" ., however, it is "the truth" where you & I disagree.
Unless THE WORLD can come to terms with what you are quite correctly saying,.....NOTHING WILL BE ACHIEVED, and in fact, if Australia were to go along the track of the previous Govt's climate change agenda, We would be putting ourselves at a severe disadvantage, in all sorts of situations , with respect tothe rest of the world.
Of Course, if this is not important to you, it will mean nothing.

Yes I have, and I have read various papers on the same topics he discussed in that talk. I was involved in food security talks from the fishing industry side many years ago.
He certainly speaks a lot of sense.
Cheers Ean.
