After complaining about a non-fitting front exhaust pipe for the 2.25P engine, I now see that I was unfair.
The real trouble was that I stupidly tightened the rear clamp before trying to fit the front one. Today as I fitted a new exhaust manifold, I tried the Britpart pipe again and it fit alright.
The successful sequence was:
Loosely connect rear clamp, then front clamp.
Take up slack in all fasteners, so the clamp plates are nice and even (not tilted).
Before final tightening, I bumped the pipe slightly to give clearance for chassis and shackle bolt.
I needed to grind the weld bead at a couple of places, to give enough room to get a spanner onto the manifold nuts - no biggy.
