Just had the front springs done on the truck and someone had not adjusted the load leveler for the rear air bags to compensate the height difference .
Long story short i was informed it would be ok for the day:eek: first mistake:angel:
Rewind 4.00 am this morning hop in said truck Drive 4 hours first drop no wuckers:)
Half a hour latter second and last drop no probs again . Now because the trailer is low at the front (draw bar) and the trucks rear suspension is low as well The lowest point being the tow frame that supports the ring feeder
Just below this frame the very lowest point is a welded bracket that supports the air lines
So i finnish said drop drive very slowly out the drive not noticing that i had snagged the air line bracket on the drive way . Head off on my way 2 ks down the road when said air line wears a hole in it from contact with the bitumen
End result full trailer brake lock up from 100ks due to loss of air:censored:
Yes luck was on my side and any one else on the road today:cool:
As i was in the middle of nowhere i was very fortunate to have a friendly farmer come along that had some air hose and a welder , A hour latter i was on my way dirty jocks and all :)

Good to see you are OK Chris, those cows are typically very inquisitive! Many years back my brother had to set a helo down in a farmers paddock after the chip warning for the gearbox went off, he hurriedly set it down before rotation ceased!:o

Next morning came back to find cows swarming around, leaning against it happily rubbing against the fuselage....

About $1600-$2000 worth of flatspotted tyres there. [bawl] As Kev said, lucky you kept the shiny side up.

I presume when you say load leveler, you're refering to the ride height valve? How much has the front been raised?

Yep ride height valve ;)
These springs were only a month old and had sagged big time , Mainly because fridge motor extra 600kgs over the front axle and this truck is always up on its weight;)
They are also parabolic springs.
We have two trucks the same the other had a extra leaf added and has been fine .
This one would be with out the extra leaf approx 60-70mm lower than the other truck.

Darn, thought I might have put the wind up you there:p

I've dealt with him through work ( LPG Supply) & thinking about it, he would be a pretty reasonable boss..:)

Just had the front springs done on the truck and someone had not adjusted the load leveler for the rear air bags to compensate the height difference .Be careful that the diff / tailshaft angle doesn't get too far out of alignment.

Be careful that the diff / tailshaft angle doesn't get too far out of alignment.Shouldn't be a problem with a rigid's wheelbase.

It depends on how quickly the diff angle changes with height change. I bought a s/h PM that had its rear suspension raised only 25-30mm above its specified height. This was enough to cause bad gbox vibrations and groans at 100 kph once the gbox oil warmed because the diff had been rotated significantly. Maybe mine has unusually short main members.

Chris aren't you just thanking your lucky stars you did that truck driving refresher course ( I say tongue in cheek) it probably gave you the driving skills that enabled you to control the stopping of the rig. LOL:p
Lucky mate,
