That just sucks.

Might pay to keep an eye on other cars at the shopping centre, thou proving anything would be next to impossible.

Maybe ask the centre manager if they have cameras covering the carpark, and if they do, ask them to save the footage, then report it to the police.

I was thinking yesterday that I was surprised this doesn't happen more often... it's just a cotter pin holding it in - if someone's car didn't come with a tow hitch... easy pickings.

And i thought i was being paranoid buying security nuts for my Cibie Super Oscars, at least it will slow them down.

A friend had the entire hub stolen from his Pajero once,

Yep, I had one stolen off my work Hilux last year.:o Couldn't believe it.

Now I only attach it when I need it.

I was just thinking about this in the weekend. As it is only held in by a split pin and how easy it would be to steel. Can we get a more secure pin?

If youre going to use a locking pin or padlock or whatever . Please ensure you clean lubricate and use often. We once had a job in to remove the hitch after the locking pin seized up. Not a nice job.

Ahh Baldivis, so close to the swinging pig...

Yes, now seized locks, isn't it ironic that the LR sleeve adaptor has a locking pin? These would be a darn sight more annoying to remove...IF seized, but are these able to be lubed? I didnt think so, but do you know?

I would've thought?

That's low. I've thought about taking mine off, but twice I've been rear ended, and twice its saved my disco from any damage.

Hey mate
Totally agree, grubs.
On my D2a, my WDH is secured by a H/R lockable pin. I used to remove the thing when on holidays after reaching a destination with the van but now, I leave it on. May not be totally safe from theft but at least the bastards will see it as a warning that it won't be as easy as simply pulling out an R clip and making off with it.

When my folks travelled through Halls Creek, they came across one unfortunate couple who had their hayman reece heavy duty hitch stolen while they were at the caravan park.

Took them a few days before it could get back on the road.

It pays to get a hitch pin lock!
