I have a vibration in my V8 as well. It does not seem to be gear or revs dependent and generally disappears on throttle lift off. All wheel nuts are good and the harmonic balancer "looks" to be OK. I have crawled under it and rattled uni joints and tailshafts etc. and nothing is obvious although I am yet to check rear gearbox mount.

With the uni joints, make sure the driveline is unloaded to check play - everything in neutral, handbrake off (chocked of course so you don't get run over). Any load or binding makes the joints feel tight and its hard to determine excess movement.

Uni, Tie-Rod or Tyre Weight missing would be my first go to. Didn't know a D1 could go over 100kph:o. Unless your wife drives like mine :burnrubber:

Hub bearing adjustment also makes it vibrate when too lose.

Inc. first sign of vibration I would do a thorough inspection of all the uni-joints, esp. front T/shaft, because if one fails and the T/S starts flogging around under there the amount of damage can be staggering.
Second would get wheels balanced and Toe In/Out checked.
Third wheel bearings, also check rims aren't bent or buckled, Regards Frank.

I had vibration on the 130. Uni was so buggered it broke a gearbox mount. I ended up doing all the unis (cause they where pretty floppy) and replacing all the nuts and bolts. Drives heavenly now.

If its got the rubber boot on the sliding section of the front shaft a build-up of grease will do it. It plagued my classic when I first got it.

I had another go ensuring all was unloaded and found a very small amount of play in the front output shaft of the transfer case. I have nearly got my 91 project Disco on the road so I hope the 96 behaves itself for the next couple of days. :(
